Hello, I am a Freelance Graphic Designer brand new to the Las Vegas Area. I am currently working as an Independent Contractor for a design agency in Summerlin and things have slowed down a bit. I started working for them 5 weeks ago part time 5 days a week and now they barely have enough work for 2 days a week. I know as a contractor things fluctuate work wise and a lot of smaller agencies hire contractors to simply "Catch Up". My question is outside of Freelancer, where do you find the most success picking up side jobs? I have been interviewing for several salary and full time positions but in the meantime I would like to stay busy and supplement my income. Sorry for the lengthy post! I am 38 years old. I graduated with my BS in Criminal Justice in 2012. I have applied for many related positions (probation/parole, case management), even a paid internship with ICE. Unfortunately, I have had no luck. Is it my age? How can I gain experience in a field that I have studied after working so hard to earn a degree? (P.S. I'm now in grad school majoring in public administration.)

I've worked for a nonprofit working with adults with disabilities for nearly 5 years now, and I have gained valuable case management experience through all my years there, but I need more...a higher salary, security, the ability to save and purchase a home.

so recently the a lot of ad companys pulled there ads from youtube. that was income. youtube is my job. In this day and age it is very disturbing that discrimination can play such pivotal role in an organization. I cannot call it anything less than discrimination. I have been working in an office where my supervisor is white and I do almost everything in the office to get things going and they changed my job title and I was given an increase of approximately $1.5. There are other employees in the department who perform the similar function as I do and they are paid more that I and given some fabulous titles and I with 2 degrees have to perform the functions and being underpaid. I have been trying relentlessly to find gainful employment elsewhere but getting most of the responses for positions that I am not interested in. I don't know if I am doing something wrong but would love for some guidance which will be useful. Thanks.

I have been at my current job since 2010! I started at $7.50 per hour, now up to $10.35! Since our company was merged with another company it has gone down hill! First they cut my hours and took away my health benefits! I had to go on medicaid! Now they have stopped giving breaks and lunches even though I work 8-9 hour shifts! I am 62 and being on my feet for that long without anything to drink is torture!!! I went to HR to complain, I was brought into managers office and basically reprimanded for calling, and as retaliation I was taken off my regular job at customer servce, which I love and waited 4 years to work up to! When I confronted my manager about this retaliation, she just said " Well I was very mad" I am collecting my social security, lost my medicaid, and need this job to survive!!!

Was so excited to start new job. Got first check last week and it was 3 1/2 hrs short. Got second check yesterday and its 9 hrs short and 50$ bonus was also supposed to be there. So new job owes me 200$. feel like i am working for free. They called me during the week and begged me to work another shift of course i did cuz i dont say no to money. I called them and told them but what should i do because they still havent paid from last week. Should i stop working till they even up?
