Beacon is one of those companies where you don’t get any training , and you walk into a mess and it’s yours . Even though you are a dedicated , hardworking nurse . You have to be chosen by a wand from another state . They don’t exactly check out the reputations of the people who they hire locally either. The executive in charge of nursing is a dinosaur and should be replaced by a modern , at least aware that life happens individual .

So I left my 14 year career back in November 2019. The company was dissolving my position and wasn't putting time or effort into keeping me around. My family is supporting me temporarily. Since then I have been on the job hunt. I have had about 10 or so interviews. I have had two jobs that were not a fit various reasons. Pay and duty miscommunications. My most recent job of a week ago was in the same industry I was in for 14 years. Everything felt perfect. My own desk, decent pay, third floor surround view of the countryside and Monday through Friday 7-4. Well on my second day I witnessed fraud at the hands of my trainer. Upon taking my concern to management they were not concerned and even condoned it. I saw the future in a blink of an eye and I realized that this was something I would be pressured into doing if I was to stick around. If the top brass of the business were ok with fraud then I was not going to stick around as that is not who I am. My message to anybody else getting into a new job is to keep your eyes open. Ensure you are aware of what is happening and what your are subjecting yourself to. I know this is another temporary segment of unemployment for me but I know I will find the right job. Sometimes standing up for whats right can literally make you quit your job.

I have a full head a grey hair. Some have suggested that hair dye could improve my luck. What do you all think?

My best piece of interview advice is to stay CALM, be yourself, be CONFIDENT and give it all you got! Having the opportunity to interview with the job you want or need is a big deal, and its their way of saying “Why should we hire you?”, so dont just focus on your skills or experience, try to focus on your personality as well, and that should help you NAIL that interview!! :) Good luck!

I lost a position that I really loved in May of 2018. Since then I have been trying to find another position in the same field. I currently have a job but it is in retail and I hate it. I have two degrees and I am applying for the positions that I am highly qualified for. I have been on countless interviews and told that I am one of the top candidates, however I'm getting told they went with someone more qualified, or after applying I receive an email or letter stating they went with a more qualified candidate. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Would love somreactions to this. In Healthcare Revenue Cycle for 30 yrs. Laid off 2/15 of 2019 out of work since then. When I left NY 5 yrs ago I was making $21.45 an hr. With that large health system over 10 yrs. Had a job w a health system here in NC for 2 and a half yrs. Was laid off took another job I utterly hated for $17.50 an hr stayed 14 months left that job for what I thought was a better oppotunity $18 an hr the staffing company lied the company I was contracted with lied saying no mass layoffs 8 months later we were laid off. Now I am working for a company that gives no benefits till 90 days no PTO till 180 days. If your caught w a cell phone immediate firing. Not allowed any pens and paper at your desk. No drawers at the desk and they provide no ammenities for thier employees not even a paper cup for water. Cant eat anything at your desk. You dont even get paid for federal holidays until 180 days in. A stinking half hr lunch. All these wonderful benefits for $11.00 an hour WTF.

I love working for Walmart. Love helping my customer if they ask me where was a merchandise was. I would stop doing what I was doing. and take that customer to Fine what they were looking for. It’s all about making the customer happy . That’s what I love about my Job.

Every day I check my email and see emails stating “We appreciate your interest but are passing...” or “Thank you for applying...we will not be moving forward...” - even more disappointing is when I actually interview (in person, Phone, video), sometimes more than once - and they seem like they went well...a few I honestly felt I was about to receive an offer right then..the conversation is smooth, without any long pauses and it’s left with a feeling of positivity like “everything sounds great..” or “your skill set and answers were impressive..” or even “based on your personality and expertise you’d be a great fit with the team or company”. Then either I don’t get a call back, or receive a call or an email saying - basically “thanks but no thanks”. I take notes about the position prior to interviewing and align what they are looking for to my experience, do research on the company and even the person/people I will be interviewing with plus follow up via email or phone right away and a few days later...but it seems it doesn’t matter. From the moment I wake up I have voicemails and missed calls regarding my resume. I call back and we chat about the position and my experience as it relates..everything sounds great..then nothing. I don’t know if it’s just me or that I have 20 years experience but no college degree or what is going on. I’ve never been out of work this long. I started on my career path as a FTE at a company where I learned a lot and progressed quickly. From being just an Admin in a QA area to assisting the team with test execution to supporting both roles and responsibilities full time until being given the title of Bus System User Specialist - just within 6 months - leasing my own team after 8 mos and just short of a year was a Project Manager. Unfortunately after 3 years was let go with a handful of others due to budget issues. I became a contractor from then til 5 years ago. I worked for various companies that used technologies, processes, etc that I wasn’t familiar with, but did not want to make a bad impression so I took it upon myself prior to onboarding as well as during my contract to take it upon myself and learn whatever it was I needed to know because I was expected to “hit the ground running” so I made sure I did just that. I have attended some college courses that were related to my career but did not receive a degree. I just do not understand what I am doing wrong...
