I am trying to pivot towards programming or developer using Python. I have taken a Microsoft certification in Python. This certification is for introduction to programming using python although I learned OOP concepts as well. I have some programming experience in programming with Java but this was a long time ago. The reason I did not keep developing is that I was very comfortable at this company and they did not want a Java developer at the time plus as a System Analyst I would write code based on projects or needs. Now, I am looking to change careers and I am finding out it is not easy. I am also learning Django to get into web development. Please if you know of any company that is looking for a candidate like me. Thanks.

Having had an obsession with programming related tasks since I was a small boy, I got many years of programming experience and ended up consulting for tech companies as soon as I was 16. I now work for a large corporation at 23 years old where I am now unhappy and no longer feeling secure with my career. Everything is being outsourced to India and other foreign countries to save money, and our department’s tasks and projects that I love and take pride working on are depleting rapidly. I have been on the job hunt for 6 months now, but I cannot find a position. My resume is either sent to a black hole with thousands of other considered applicants, or when I do hear back- it’s a great interview— until I explain my job experience at an enterprise level. I have applied for HUNDREDS of jobs in August alone. I am being told left and right I have “too much experience for the position, and they’re looking for someone to stay for the long run”. I explain that I am in this for a career, not just a job and genuinely enjoy what I do, and the employers that I interview with feel I would end up bored.
I did try to apply higher up in more “advanced” IT and developer roles that I may or may not qualify for, but then again- I get more of a black hole here than anything.
I’m only 23 years old, on my own, and I am scared to death. I’ve been lucky to get work with so much experience and a great portfolio (no degree, but many applicable certifications), but now nobody wants to hire me at all. When our department is completely moved out of country, I don’t know what I’m left with... Am I on the right website to explore options here?

I'm a PHP developer and am used to making 80k a year. My late wife passed 4 years ago and I meat someone and now re-married so I took a job at Bergan-Blue as an Electronics assembler, but now 5 weeks after marriage my wife is pregnant so what should I do, the cap for my position is 40k and it seems PHP is much harder to get hired for these days, any advice?

I am a .Net developer, I have long long experience with technologies in general, but it look like companies only are interested in younger people, 28 and less years old, I'm 43. It is incredible the frustration that I have when the interviewer has no knowledge of technology, and still they "some how" got in a position that is key for a company. I applied in others companies where the oldest person there is probably 25. What's wrong here? Is that mean that after you turn 35 you need to retired? It is amazing!

Starting over the acceptance of a past we can't change, an unrelenting conviction that the future can be different, and the stubborn wisdom to use the past to make the future what the past was not.
Happy New Year 2019
