If you fail a hair follicle test for a CDL company will you be able to get another truck driving job or will your career be over? Very concern need answer someone....Please!!!!!

With the 10,000 character limit on these posts, I'll have to break these job seeker tips into several posts. This is just some stuff I've learned over the years.
One of THE biggest obstacles to getting a job is drug use. A friend of mine was a chief engineer at Bell Helicopter. They needed to hire 50 engineers for a special project. They posted the job openings, brought in their candidates, narrowed the field, and selected their 50 finalists. They sent them for their pre-employment drug screen and 45 out of the 50 failed the drug test. These were college educated professionals.
I interviewed at Union Pacific Railroad in 2004. They did group interviews with anywhere from 40 to 60 candidates at a time. The HR rep told us, "You will be tested for drugs. If you have anything in your system, and you will know if do, then get up and leave the room now. You have NOT failed a drug test at this point. The record will simply show that you declined to be interviewed at this time. You can reapply later. If you test positive, you will never work for UP or any railroad ever. All positive tests must be reported to the NTSB. "
Then what he said next floored me. He said, "We've had people in these group interviews in the past and have had every single person in the room get up and leave."
Folks, you have to be ready to go to work. Get yourself clean and stay that way. You can pump your fist and stomp your feet and declare that marijuana should be legalized all you want. And you'll still be unemployed because employers won't hire you if you test positive. Alcohol is legal. You can't drive drunk or show up for work blitzed. Even in states where it's legal, you're closing the door to the majority of jobs if you insist on smoking dope.

I was hired on at a company that was just suppose to be temporary After I completed the temp assignment there was a position open for a clamp driver. They let me try the position, and I was able to do what other employee's were table to do only after at least a few years driving, in a few days. My probation period was over and was drug screened and hired permanent. After a couple of months I was called into the office to go over my insurance packages with H.R. person. Afterwards I went back to work and was called in three hours later again to speak with the H.R. guy. It was then I was told that there was a rumor that I was trying to sell someone at work pot, I said it wasn't true. Then he said that there was also a rumor that I would supposedly come in from my lunch break and ask people if I smelled like pot. I told him that's also a lie. Then he mentioned some breakage I had, I told him I asked my supervisor if he needed me to drug test and he said not to worry about it cause I was new and still in training. At the time our supervisor told us and we would see for ourselves that a lot of the boxes would come damaged from the winery. He then tried to say I damaged the boxes and I said it wasn't true. I had just got hired not even a month earlier and passed my drug screen. He asked if I would have a problem testing again just to clear the air. I had just unloaded three trucks by myself, he informed me that if I would, I'd be on suspension without pay till the results came back in and if I didn't I'd just be suspended. I felt harassed, slandered, angry but I said I'd test. Then he said they'd have to drive me to the clinic, that I couldn't drive my own vehicle in my condition. (insinuating I was high or something.) While in the car I had second thoughts, here I am just doing my job and here I am slandered and envied. I told him never mind I wasn't going to test I just got hired permanently not even a month ago. I was let go.

(Please Bare with me Guys and Gals it's a long post but very interesting to see our beloved Target's True Colors.) So this is my opinion relating to whether or not Target stores are truly equal Opportunistic. And I would have to say for the most part they are but when it comes to certain things they are not. So today my focus is going to be about Target's Hiring process. Though very simple and for the most part not too pain staking. The real issue is that I believe that some of the steps deemed necessary for you to become an employee at your local Target should be evaluated or at least adjusted slightly. So here's my story. I was recently employed by Target in this quaint little city known as Manteca California. And like I said the application process was typical and I didn't think much of it until I started talking to some of my co-workers about how their application processes went and I was Frankly appalled at one step In particular. Which was their standpoint on Drug screenings. So I had a handful of co-workers say this to me. "Yeah I liked how they didn't drug test me." And when I heard more and more co-worker's tell me that they too weren't required to take a drug test I was almost disgusted by the fact that those people I'm referring to weren't asked to perform a drug screening but I myself, a 20 year old Hispanic male was asked to submit a drug test immediately after signing paperwork and things like that. So I went and did my test and what a surprise I passed it with flying colors so Jokes on you Target your assumptions that I was some adolescent Junkie or whatever their assumptions of me were at the time were completely wrong. So all in all I'm not saying Target is guilty of racial profiling but what I am saying is I think it's really immoral to judge someone based upon the way they look, dress, or even their age. I did a little research after all of this and found that this particular Target Franchise has been doing this as far back as 5 years prior to my employment with the company and possibly even longer. So if you're considering a job at your local Target or have an upcoming interview all I can say is Good Luck and Be aware that based upon the way you look and I guess maybe the way you carry yourself you may have to submit a drug test. Or who knows maybe not. ; ) Sorry for giving such a long and possibly unnecessary explanation but I basically just wanted to share this with you all and say that Target isn't racist but their application process is in my opinion immoral and Fu****.(Note, most of the people I found that were not asked to submit a drug test were Female's in their mid 20s who if judged based upon looks would be considered bookworms with flawless records. Or as some would say "Goody Goody.")

That whole process sounds ridiculous. If you are on prescribed medications that will make your drug screen positive such as Adderal, the MRO (medical review officer), will notify you & ask for the pharmacy where you had your medication filled at to verify that it is a prescribed medication for you. I have never in over 30 years in Healthcare, have ever heard of the drug screening process conducted in that way. You should have demanded that another drug test be done at another site. Also, do your homework and understand how the process should be conducted. Good Luck!.

I just read the post about the person losing her job because she tested positive on drugs. Was wondering if others knew that eating anything containing poppy seeds will reflect drugs, etc. We had been having donuts and other pastries with poppy seeds, many urinalysis came back positive, that was the reason.

hello everyone , i am barley getting out of high school. So i really do not know the rights for all applicants. Iv been trying to look for a job for the past three months so far not a single one has sent me a message. The last time i appealed for a job was for a warehouse job for Amazon. I did not get the job because i was positive for Medical marijuana on my pre employment drug test. I tried calling the medical review office to reverse the decision. I was sent to a voice mail monitor leaving my name ,number, and the reason why i called. this was last week i tried calling a couple of times this week but i did not get a response back. I also tried applying for other jobs but most jobs require you to take drug test. The thing is i am patient for using cannabis. I have a recommendation letter addressing that i can use Mmj for health reasons. i was wondering if this situation was some type of discrimination, and also will i be able to pass a drug test with a letter of recommendation of using Medical marijuana ? what are my options at this point ?

I have already received my email saying my drug test and background meets requirements and to be looking forward for a new hire orientation class and I have yet to receive it is there someone I can get in contact with
