Safety has always been my utmost priority as well as great accuracy and ethics. I want people to walk in and know their lights come on as well as everything else. In mission critical situations there is no room for error.

I was a corrections officer for 1 year and a half. One morning I was given a letter by an inmate. That inmate said to me "You are the only I can trust will do the right thing with this , Please read it and you do what you think you should do with it..." I told him okay and inside the letter it talked about an officer with the department being involved in something that if true was being covered up. So after sleeping on it , I decided to give it to my supervisor and let them deal with it however they felt they should...One week later I was moved to Second shift for no reason what so ever after being on first shoft since the very first day I started..Then around 3-4 days later I was pulled aside after working my shift and asked to stay late to have a talk with my corporal. Well after waiting 30mins I decided to go outside and put all my gear in my vehicle . On my way to my vehicle I noticed the captain of the jail, the captain of the department and the sheriff coming from behind the building...I was approached by the sheriff and cursed up and down , yelling at me and saying "don't you know that everything in that building is recorded?" I said yes sir why? "Then whats going on, what are you doing?" I asked him what exactly he meant, what was it I was doing? He proceeded to tell me that I knew what I had done and I would be lucky not to end up on there with them guys!" He asked for my badge and my radio and I kept telling him as I was handing it to him that I hadn't done anything wrong at all... He asked me to bring my uniforms on the next day...but I was never given a reason why I was being fired.. I applied for unemployment and was successful in receiving it because when they checked with the department and asked why I was fired...they could not provide a reason at all...im just curious of there could be some type of action taken against the department or county or ? I was never written up at all the entire time I was employed with the exception of being late a few times..Now I am finding it very difficult to get.job in this town.....any help that I can be given would be great!

#Ethics #Doing the right thing or looking out for myself?

Hi everyone!!! So here is my issue. Your comments/feedback are much appreciated.

So, it's been about three months since I passed all of the prerequisites (background check, drug test, fingerprint), after I received a contingent offer from an airline. Now, I'm awaiting my formal offer letter, and training day.

The two part-time jobs which I'm currently at, aren't cutting it; I need something more consistent until the airline job begins (which could happen next week, next month, or maybe two months from now).

What I want to know is should I feel bad if I were to get a part-time job where the company would be investing time/money, and then leave upon the airline calling me? Throughout my career, I've been taught to be ethical, and that burning bridges isn't good. But in this day and age, it seems like that has taken a back seat to looking out for oneself, and not caring about what happens to the company.

This scenario sounds like an afterschool moral & ethics programs but I’m dealing with a situation at work where my boss is cornering me into altering reports to make the store look good on paper to the corporate offices. I’ve heard rumor’s of other stores cheating results on their books but we’ve never had to do that because our sales goals were always met. Shady activity like this not only goes against company policy but against my moral and ethical standards as well. Has anyone ever worked with a shady manager in the past? How did you handle the situation?

Ok, I have a question. This might be inappropriate, but I find that I am really attracted to my boss. I'm not in a position where I would even be considered for promotion, so would it be ok for me to try and pursue something with them? I don't want to do anything unethical.

I have just seen a looooong discussion on how people feel about job postings for which the job has been filled, sometimes by months. However, a more infuriating practice (and fortunately not as common) is when the interviewer asks "How would you solve this kind of problem?" The first time that happened I solved a problem they were actually having at the time but they never called me back. It took me a week to realize how I had been used. The second time it happened, I realized it was happening but didn't see a way to stop the process. Then he told me "We're already doing it that way." Bovine!

A few months ago I found an old Dilbert strip where Catbert is advising the Pointy Haired Boss to do exactly that! Which tells me the practice is more prevalent that I had suspected.

I have resolved to reply "Hire me and I'll tell you" the next time I see it coming.

So for 2 years i worked for a woman who used to work for my high school which was an all girls catholic school. she resigned because it came out that she had a relationship with a student. I began to work for her and in august 2015. It was a non profit organization/after school program it was free for all students it was called the club at Collington ( Episcopal Services of Maryland). I developed a really close relationship with one of my coworkers and my supervisor seemed jealous she hated that we were close she also had a way of lying.. just making up storie.. so She was my supervisor. In December we did this Christmas drive we had a lot of less fortunate children. I was assigned 2 little girls and purchased 250 dollars worth of stuff hadn't even gone shopping for my own family yet. Well, my coworker was moving things that some families didn't pick up (my 2 did my supervisor "wrapped" it for me) but my supervisor said to my coworker who was moving things to go to the good will "don't mix that box up that stuff is going home to my niece" I looked over and it was every single thing I purchased. That was one thing. In February, on two occasions she walked by me and felt my butt.when I said "excuse me" she replied it was moving I had to. After that I reported her. However she is so close to supervisor above her that they ignored me. Moving on to May, she came back on Monday after we held a ceremony for the children. She came back and said that myself and the girl that I was really close with was under investigation with the police because we ignored a child who said she was touched durin the program (no child ever came up to me) I contacted the police department gave them the location of where they were supposedly called to gave them my name and everything they confirmed it was a lie.. for the summer, when school Is out we hold a summer camp. She claimed we didn't have enough funding for payroll she cut only myself and the girl that I amb. Close with hours.. she would make comments to me to go and hit the pole and get money for the program. I resigned from that job a few weeks ago, however I really want to find who to contact to tell them about these things that's I have experienced. Every time I look for a number I can't find anything ! PLS HELP WHAT TO DO

I feel uneasy about the situation I'm in and I need your help! I’m working with a recruiter who got me an interview for a front desk position. I thought the interview went pretty well, and I want the job. It’s been a couple days and the recruiter contacted me saying that the manager liked me but was a bit concerned because I said I wasn’t an extrovert. The recruiter said she “shouldn’t really tell me” this, but she thought that if I wrote a thank-you note to the hiring manager and made sure to include something about how I love talking with people, I could probably get the job.

I have two concerns 1) How far should I stretch the truth about being extroverted to get the job? I’m not a “life of the party” person, but I can man a front desk. 2) Should I be worried the recruiter is telling me this? Is it ethical?
