Stay positive and happy. Remember to leave your drama outside of the doors. Just because you're going through something does not mean you have to take it out on anyone. Stay smiling and make sure you communicate with everyone at your register. The kids also like to be involved in what's going on. When doing that it takes there minds off running around and it makes them enjoy coming to the store.

I would stay calm firstly if a customer was upset with me. There is nothing I am going to gain but responding the same way. Secondly, I wouldn't take it personally. Thirdly I would listen and let them vent about why they're upset and make sure my body language isn't saying I'm annoyed. Then I would sympathize with them let them know I understand where they are coming from and how they're feeling. I would show sympathy for their unpleasant customer experience. I would apologize for their experience .

I love working with the customers. I get to meet all walks of life and get to know a little bit about them everytime they come to my register.
