I’m excited to announce that I am OFFICIALLY starting a contract to perm job tomorrow. I am even more excited that I will be given the top rate of $31/hr. It’s a little less than I was making before but I am so blessed to have a job. I still have a few pending/potential offers, but unless it’s a perm position making more money, I think I’m cool.

Update: Took a job shortly after this making about $43/hr

Thank you all for your support and kind words. I will keep you posted about any job changes.

***UPDATE-SEE UPDATE BELOW ***

After a month of applications the last 2 weeks have been wonderful. I’ve had several interviews, 3 more scheduled and so far 1 job offer. I have feeling I may be offered 1 or 2 more.

I’ve had to be submitted to jobs paying $12,000-$16,000/yr less than what I’ve made in the past. That’s $6-$8/hr less! I guess that’s to be expected after being unemployed for over a year.

What are your thoughts on taking a pay cut to get in the door?

Regardless, I’m feeling blessed.

UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE All interviews went great. I’ve received multiple job offers. 3 offers and expecting 1 more. Could this be leveraged to negotiate my salary? Would you mention the other offers to the each employer?

It me ,Cherie, I have trying hard to find a good job. You know; one that has benefits and is full time. Well I went for a job interview and got lost in the buildings. But for some odd reason I found myself being interviewed by an other company in the wrong building I went to.The man's name was Eric. He was very nice . I thought how happy I would be working there if only I got hired. Then they send me to there H.R. department. Boy did I get a shock ,a drug test and a back ground check. I prayed that if it was ment to let me get this job. You see I had a passed. I only wanted something more out of life than
Nothing . I got the job! You see I feel as if God sent me to the wrong place for the right reason! Thank You all for giving me hope.

I dropped off an application at an overseas American High School. When I called follow up, they couldn't find it so I went back and submitted again. Waited and called and again they couldn't find it. So I went a 3rd time, filled out the app and when it asked why I wanted the job I said that it had "good vibes". Risky. However I got a call from the Principal and scheduled an interview, and he told me that "good vibes" was exactly how he felt about the school too. I got the job.

After two years I got a great job with the Desoto Parish School Board. It's a great district with a A rating. Just 7 minutes from my house and making almost 8000 a year more than where I was. God is good. I just wanted to tell you all please don't give up. We all know what it's like to pay bills and be lucky to have 70-80 dollars left. We will all reach our goals. I claim that for all who read this.

To All, I finally got a job. After 10 months of being slandered by my former boss I have finally been hired. I can leave the job at Lowe's. I would recommend Lowe's to anyone by the way. Good people good benefits. Money is not so great but the job keeps you busy. Very happy I did it. Now I've been hired. I am making less than what I made in my previous job but its enough. I never did find out what that angry little man was saying and honestly, I don't care anymore. I'm sure eventually he will get his. His kind usually does. I will now go back into the industry I worked so hard in to build my reputation in and rebuild it. I thank my new employer for believing in me and will not let him down. One of the good things this hard time has given me is a chance to truly look at myself and work on my a faults. It also gave me time with my three sons. Unemployment was hard but I tried to make the best of it. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I will continue to subscribe to this feed and give back what was given to me. To all going through this, IT WILL END. I hated when people said that to me but it's true. Do positive things, stay out of your own head, help others. Make the best of it. Thank you all John Meder

I know I have been talking about my interviews and how determined I was in getting a new job but all that has paid off!!! I had my panel interview last Thursday with a great company and I wanted the position so bad. I went in and I was my happy go lucky self and got the job. And I got the top salary too!!! I just signed my offer and sent it back. Now I have to put in my 2 weeks. Thanks to eveyone who gave me any type of motivation or any tips! This is a great site.
