I have been searching for a new job since the beginning of June. I have over 12 years in administrative experience. I am getting interviews but then get ghosted. Even by staffing agencies. One job stated that they went with another applicant as they live closer to the business. A staffing agency emailed me and said they would have to dig deeper to find something appropriate for me. I've had only 2 jobs in the past 13 years. Due to hard work & proving myself I was promoted to management positions even though I knew nothing of that industry initially. I just turned 60 recently and feel that I will have to "dumb" down my resume just to get a full time job. (I currently am working a part time seasonal job that does not pay the bills). I don't have a college degree, licensed or special certification which is why I'm looking for administrative positions. My previous bosses (both companies downsized so I wasn't let go due to performance) are actively giving me leads & are my job references. Even they don't understand why some company has not snatched me up yet. How can I tell if I am being age discriminated against?

So I need anyone's opinion on this. I have two jobs lined up one I started this week and the other I'm supposed to start on December 2nd if I dont like the first one. I have an extensive background in Mechanical ,Troubleshooting and Maintenance

The first one is pretty much Repairing grocery carts and Equipment inside of a Retail store at 19 an hour with a company truck and a company phone. My previous experience overpasses this job by far but its income.
The second one is a Commercial Roofing company and they want me to be an advisor for them at 50k a year with a Company phone and a Company car paid training for a week in another state but the only issue I feel like this one has is they dont pay for expenses till after 1 year of employment as far as food goes.

I'm stuck in a rut I keep looking for work seeing if something better comes along. #joboffers

I have worked at my retail job for 18yrs. as they raise the starting wage they do not adjust an increase in our wages. I was told they only invest in new talent, not the tenor staff. They do expect us to train all the new hires and keep our mouths shut. I have witnessed the younger management set up the older managers and then write them up for doing what they told them to do. They keep this up till they retire or quit. They want us all gone so they don't have to pay for vacations and benefits, most new hires are only part-time. I have taken steps to cover my ass, take pictures of my work, document everything in emails. The only trouble is the HR, store mgr are all in on this and there's no one to go to.I'm in my later 50's and don't have a degree. what can be my next step to save my job?

Hello fellow Jobcasers,

As you search for work and apply for positions, please understand that we are heading directly into the holiday season. During the time from Thanksgiving through New Years, you are most likely not going to hear much from your submitted applications (Unless you are applying for holiday/seasonal positions).

Most businesses pretty much shut down for all intents and purposes during this time as key staff are using the last of their PTO and taking off in the weeks between those holidays.

If you submit applications this week and next, you run the risk of being frozen out until after the holidays. Keep track of which companies you applied to, and if you haven't heard anything by the 2nd week of January, follow up, or check if the position is still available and re-apply.

Do not be discouraged. If you are in need of employment for the holidays, consider taking seasonal positions at retail/restaurants. It may not be ideal, but it will bring in some much needed money during the busy shopping season.

I've been working at McDonald's part-time on weekends, however, when I asked for full-time, the manager said they couldn't do it. I want a full-time job so I can move out of my dad's house. NOBODY wants to hire me full-time during the week. I do not want to do physical work, I want a Monday-Friday office job, preferably making $50,000-$100,000 per year and working from home. What college should I go to in order to qualify for this type of job?

Love McDonald's on Burkart rd by the way, they know how to treat their employees :-)
