Good day everyone. I am rapidly relocating due to my father-in-law's decline in health and I am freaking out a tad because this means I may be jobless for quite sometime. I am relocating to Shreveport, Louisiana where IT jobs seem to be about "who you know". A little background: I just separated from the Air Force almost 2 years ago, with 9 years of Desktop support and 1 year of System Administration. The move has been granted because my husband is Active Duty and has received orders to do so.
Ok, now my question is, If I were to go to school full time to receive my degree, would that harm me in the future with getting back into the IT job world? I figured it would considering how quick technology updates and improves. Any advice would be great, thank you.

Hey. Good day. I am a SYBASE DBA (senior) w/ Rep Server experience, Disaster Recovery etc.. My previous work experience was as a systems and application developer - NYC Banks - programming languages including; Assembler (3GLs) Vis Basic, PASCAL, COBOL, you name it. ('C++' academically).
Here is a question for you: How can I get back into our field (Information Technology), after working as a New York State Department of State, Department of Criminal Justice Peace Officer for a number of years?
I am up to date on SAP SYBASE release 15.+ (study of release notes, white papers on P&T best practices etc..). I assure you I am highly motivated (and competent).
Any idea(r)s?

Laid off on Jan 8 and looking for Technical or IT Project Management...or related position. Anyone know of companies that are hiring?

Looking for a opening for Network systems administrator in the Nashville Tennessee area. I recently just graduated college from ITT Technical Institute. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am looking for a full time position to start immediately. I am a person of good work ethic with a strong track record for good organization and self starting enthusiasm. I love to absorb all and learn as much as I can as quickly as I can. I am a leader and not a follower. I have a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management with a lengthy administrative background. I am Microsoft Office User Certified, and I am willing to work overtime when needed.

Do you currently have an IT position available

Myself, an IT Project Manager - experience 8 years and total IT experience 14 years, looking for employers who can test/interview me and sponsor my H1B. How do i find such employers?

I have about 6-7 years of Linux administration experience, mostly short-term gigs, 6-month to an year long. Some of the companies are well-known names, but some of my experience is outside of the US. I suspect that the trouble I'm having landing a job in relatively good job market (Boston) is because the employers and recruiters are reluctant to hire/trust someone with mostly short-term gigs. Is there a way to overcome this or maybe it is something else I'm not doing right? Thank you.

Over the IT years of my life I could never be happy in what I was doing. I always felt uncomfortable when I walked in the door the first day to the last. As a project manager and developer, many projects never seem to ever get finished, because somewhere along the financial line gets distorted and stakeholders pull out. Stakeholders need to be educated about what they are getting into before they start projects. As a contractor I get to move around which as a young man I loved; however as I am pushing on past 50 and starting a second family two boys 7 and 14 I need to find a job in my career field that will root me for the duration. This will benefit my family as well as my health. Health issues as many young people have less concern about will find as we get older it becomes that dreaded concern, so one will certainly start thinking about those roots. I found a job I really enjoyed, as short lived as it was. Teaching, yes I said teaching. Qualifications are not that rigorous as you think. It was short lived because the program subject was not adpt for the geo-local area I was teaching in , so that meant low student enrolment. Still I loved the job yet unfortunately I felt stabbing pangs in my back everyday from the senior staffing which made it very stressful. Going from jobsite to jobsite cannot go on, Finding a work home seems hopeless in an economy like ours. Is there any good long lasting jobs out there?
