Hi community, just wanted to let everyone know, I have two very promising interviews this week, one is through a local temp agency (A/R Customer Service), and the other is a local distributor (supervising a crew of about 15 people), both decent pay, and benefits. Wish me luck! Thanks to the good advice of Cassandra, I can go in well prepared. ;)

Since the last time I posted anything, I have applied at two places. Walker County Board of Education as a substitute teacher and Medical Assistant. I am waiting on an employee letter/number for the substitute teacher. The doctor's office, I had an interview Thursday after work and waiting on a response from them. Tomorrow I am going to turn in my application and resume to Security Federal Bank. Wish me luck.

I wish and pray for everyone in here good and poaitvibes and luck. NEVER GIVE UP.

Just came across some interesting job search information and wanted to share. This info and more is available on YouTube...work it daily

One thing thats covered is to ask questions so the interviewer sees that you're interested in the position and enhances communication with your interviewer vs that dreaded dead air

  1. How did you come to work here or what do you live most about working here?

The answer will give you insight into the company, it's employees, and other information. 2. Tell me what made a recent hire successful Again this shows interest in what you can do to not only get the job but keep the job and possibly even get a promotion later. By asking what made someone successful you show that you want to be successful and not just come to work each day. 3. What challenges will this position help the company overcome. Alll companies have challenges. This answer will give you insight into what the company may be facing or if they are expanding, etc. It also shows that you see this as helping them to be successful vs just a paycheck. It may be a time to expand how past experiences and how you helped achieve goals. 4. What skills or experiences would make me a better candidate. Especially important if your resume is limited to several points or one or two jobs. Its a chance to respond with how you know a skill or have an experience from volunteering or you can explain other skills not included in order to keep your resume concise versus several pages long

This is part of the work it daily program which involves coaching and help with resumes, interviews etc. It also stresses the importance of cover letters and how to successfully write them.

A key point that made me think is that athletes are professionals yet they have coaches. Perhaps we can all use a little help.

Recently I was called in for an interview, and immediately I thought to myself oh boy !! something does not feel right about this. This was the most unprofessional hiring and screening process that I have ever seen. It felt like a cattle drive, get them in, get him out. I get it ! it's a numbers game. The more applicants that you have the better chances to find a great candidate. But then when I was called back for the second interview, a group of us were taken to another building around the corner and down the street to sit in a public lobby of a building in which they didn't have an office or any business association. After sitting there for three hours while they scanned the yellow pages for business-to-business contacts. I came to the conclusion in no way or no how what I want to be associated with such an inappropriate company. Sorry guys I know sometimes we make choices for a paycheck that will not lead to a career but I highly advise anyone to stay as far away from this company as possible. Unfortunately I'm not at Liberty to mention the company's name because of defamation actions. But word to the wise please stay away from mass marketing companies off of 8th Avenue in New York City. Unless you have nothing better to do then waste your time .

Hello,

I went on an interview this morning and i was really prepared for them to ask me all sorts of questions. The first thing that was asked do you have any questions for me. I did ask a bunch but this was kinda odd to me. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

I graduated in May 2017 with a MS In Professional Counseling. I did an internship with a substance abuse facility, where I feel I learned a lot, as well as contributed my time and energy to co-facilitating and then facilitating intensive outpatient groups, providing coverage for vacationing staff, and I did not get paid for the 600 hours that I was at the agency. (It is a requirement that you complete 600 hours of an internship to obtain your degree) . I was told that I did a marvelous job, they appreciated all that I did, and they even encouraged me to apply for work there. Since that time, I have submitted numerous applications and have had several interviews. I interviewed for two different positions at the agency that I interned with, and both times I was told that I was not the right candidate for the job-the SAME kind of job that I did for the agency for FREE, now they don't want to pay me to do! I find it mind boggling. I have the education and the internship experience, as well as other professional experience AND life experience. Yet, I find I am being passed over for jobs. I often don't even get a response from the places that I have applied to, and if I do get an interview, I'm told that despite my education and experience, I'm not the right candidate for the job. Now, I will be completely honest: I have a felony conviction, but I am able to work with children, I have my clearances, (local, state, and federal), and I have been off parole for years. I worked hard to graduate Magna Cum Laude with my B.A. (If they would've recognized that in my Master program, I would have had that honor again). I've worked with many people and I have been told by clients and other professionals that I have a positive attitude. I get along well with my colleagues, even if I don't like them (they'd never know), and I have never been reprimanded for tardiness or no doing my job. I dress exceptionally well, in fact; I have come into many interviews dressed nicer than the individuals who were doing the interviewing. But I would hope that this would not be the reason that I am getting hired. I would appreciate some feedback. I don't know what I'm doing wrong (IF I am doing something wrong) but this is getting frustrating. I entered the field of psychology/counseling because I was sure that this field would be more accepting of my felony conviction. Counseling is about assisting your client to find out what their issues are, coming up with some solutions, and then allowing the client to make those changes to affect change in their lives. It's about encouragement and enlightenment. But I'm finding that while they preach these tenets, they are not accepting of those issues in the people that are trying to enter this field. It's very traumatizing, because I know that I have done everything in my power to become a better person, and I feel that I have overcome much, and that I could really assist people to discover and tap into their potential. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I have a job interview this coming week which is awesome, but I am a single parent and the job’s hours are NOT flexible at all. I know I shouldn’t have even applied, but it’s a GREAT job and part of me didn’t think they would even be interested in me. Now what do I do?
