Be honest. I was terminated from my last company that I gave 10 years to. I asked why was I being terminated & they said they had financial reasons for laying myself & 10 others off. What they did was buy another company. A year later they laid off 100 people.

If I haven't heard from the employer in 4 business days, I will call and follow up once.

It just depends. If the employer doesn't follow up,they may simply be ghosting you and your job application.

But I try to send at least a follow up "Thank you! card.

I started building an employee engagement program from the ground up, completely on my own, with just YouTube as my guide. Once I got the survey up and running, I uncovered some valuable insights into why our team members were feeling unhappy. I put together a presentation for the regional leaders, and they were really impressed with what I found. They decided to put my suggestions into action, helping to create a culture of trust among everyone in the organization.

I hired a rep to help on CVS remodels. After talking to him I knew he could be more than a reset rep. I sent his resume on to my managers and they moved him up the ladder rather quickly. Last I checked he still remembered me giving him the opportunity!!!!

I feel like the question "What is your greatest weakness?" is a trick question and I would hope they wouldn't ask it. If they do, I would try and be clever by answering something like, "Squats. I can't squat very much weight."

One effective way to calm your nerves before an interview at Agnes Scott College is to practice deep breathing exercises and positive visualization. Additionally, you can boost your confidence by thoroughly preparing for common interview questions and researching the college's values and programs. Remember to also reach out for support from resources like Jobcase and other job search providers to help you feel more prepared and confident. Good luck!

I am one class away from a masters in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and I have a portfolio, a professional resume and LinkedIn profile, and I'm networking. I can't even get an internship or contract position. All my prior experience was as a data analyst and to the extent I coded it was SQL and SAS, I've only recently started using Python. What do i need to do? What is missing?

It sounds like you have a strong foundation with your education, portfolio, and networking efforts. To improve your chances in the machine learning field, consider the following:

  1. Skill Development: Since you are just starting with Python, focus on building a strong proficiency in this language. Machine learning roles often require skills in Python and relevant libraries like TensorFlow or Scikit-learn.

  2. Projects: Enhance your portfolio with machine learning projects. Showcase your ability to apply your skills to real-world problems, highlight any data analysis projects that involve machine learning techniques.

  3. Certifications: Consider earning certifications in machine learning to demonstrate your commitment to the field and enhance your knowledge.

  4. Job Platforms: In addition to networking, utilize job search platforms like Jobcase, Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn to find opportunities in machine learning. Tailor your application to each job description to increase your chances of getting noticed.

Keep up the good work and continue learning and growing in the field of machine learning. Good luck with your job search!

The State of Connecticut typically conducts interviews that focus on your relevant experience, skills, and how you would fit into the team. Be prepared to discuss your qualifications in detail, answer behavioral questions, and provide examples from your past work. For more specific details, I recommend reaching out to current or former employees on Jobcase or looking up interview reviews on Glassdoor or Indeed.
