I was working as an Overnight Stocker at the Vineland NJ Kmart store from November to December 2002. It was a temporary position. I didn't exactly enjoy working overnights, but if there was one thing I've learned from my Kmart experience was this: Get your pallets off the sales floor before you leave.

Let me tell you a little story: I was working with a gentleman named Alfred one night and when it came time to remove our pallets, I was removing mine and taking it back to the back room. Alfred did not, and they fired him the next evening.

If you have ever worked with pallets before, you know you need to put them back where they belong. I was doing what was common sense, to put this huge wooden square with open holes and boards nailed to two frames on 4 sides away for customer/guest and co-worker/team member safety. It was a nice experience even though it was short. #retail #parttime #wordsofadvice #kmart
