Can you get unemployment being laid off even though you were only considered a Part time employee.. My wife was there for 18 years?

I lost my job July 2015 and being over 50 have not been able to find a job since. I’m pretty sure that I was blacklisted by my last employer. My question is this: why when a person is obviously at their lowest with very little money does the bank decide to raise the interest rate on my credit card and lower the credit limit? Even though I’ve never missed a payment or made a payment late Why does my car insurance feel the need to base my car insurance rate on my crummy credit score, thereby raising my monthly payments? And why did they change my policy from a 12 month policy to a 6 month policy, so that I will have to pay more? Even though I’ve never had a ticket or accident and had excellent credit all my life until now. Is America now all about “kick’em while they’re down”? Because it sure feels that way. I am barely keeping my head above water. I am one step from being homeless. I have no savings left and I have cashed in my retirement and that is also gone. (Had to buy some food. You know how that is!) This world feels heartless and hopeless.

I had a great phone interview last Tuesday with a director from a company that was extremely close to the job I was doing before I got laid off. I emailed them directly on September 30, then found the same posting on LinkedIn, so I applied again. I then followed up on my original email. During the interview he mentioned that it was my follow up that got me the interview because when he read my original resume he thought I was overqualified. At the end of our interview he reassured me that I would get a call back either way, because he strongly believed that a personal follow up was the right thing to do. How did I find out that they are no longer considering me? By an email I received this morning from LinkedIn. Sorry for babbling, but I’m beyond depressed and frustrated.

Yes, I have had my resume professionally done. I hit the job sites every day and get my application in, even for jobs that I don't push all the requirement buttons on. And now I'm feeling really ground down when I see the sheer number of applicants for the jobs I'm applying for. One had 453 people apply, another had over 600. Over 600!! One interviewer told me that they received over 100 applications in one day. Is it all just luck? How can you stand out in that kind of tsunami? My late husband used to tell me it's who you know and who you blow and I'm seriously thinking he was right. I was laid off after 24 years of giving my blood, sweat and tears to a job where I was always told I was family. And I was good at it. I guess even family doesn't matter when it means saving a buck on payroll (not that my salary was anywhere what you'd call lavish). I've worked my contacts (I think they hide when they see me coming now) with zero effect and with ageism being alive and well, regardless of the illegality, I'm really bouncing off that rock bottom. No, I don't expect answers, this was more just along the lines of frustrated venting, but I sure would like to be one of the lucky few that actually make their way through the flood and get hired ::sigh::

2017 was a great year for me, loved my job, the people I worked with. Paid off bills and was starting to save. Then in October, my job laid off all the contractors with no warning.

I couldn't find full-time work, depleted my savings paying living expenses for 5 people. Long story short. My credit took a plunge in 2018 because I could only afford to pay living expenses at this point. Living hand to mouth.

I had a great job prospect. Passed the tests they gave, background, drug test. I have 20+ years of experience, great work discipline. Over a month and a half later of stringing me along. They decided not to hire me due to my credit.

I was able to appeal and pulled my credit showing I had excellent credit until mid-2018. But the still denied me. So the job I thought I had was yanked from me. I just want to work and take care of my family.

My wife and I argue all the time now. My kids don't respect me. Friends have disappeared. I am just drained and tired now. I cant file chapter 7 or 13 because of my circumstances. There are so many other issues happening as well. I will lose my home, family. My dignity and self-opinion are already gone. I don't know what to do anymore. I have been looking for work for so long with no luck of a decent salary. I lost hope I will find anything. My best life is behind me now I guess.
