I was laid off from the oil fields recently. I was a mechanic and operator. Since then I have put out so many applications I lost track. Noone has even so much as called me. I do online applications as well as going in person. Nothing has worked. I have a family to provide for. I couldnt even get a warehouse job. I am willing to start at the bottom and prove myself.

So I got laid off it will be a year as of the 25. I have to say I am utterly drained in every sense! Iam mentally emotionally and spiritually drained!! I just don’t know what do I actually dread this life of nothing!!!! It’s so hard to stay positive especially when ur going insane from billls and daily struggle! I think it’s ridiculous what these companies expect from us (qualification wise). Why do I need a bachelor degree to sell a mattress I’m from nyc hustle and common sense is in the blood we have to be fast learners we are so diverse and fast paced seriously tho a 4 year college degree to sell a mattress!!!!! ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! Especially when you go to the store and the employees are a bunch of idiots who don’t want to help and have child like attitudes!!! I’m trying to remain positive sorry about the rant I had to let it out! Anyway I do not have a hs diploma but I’m obtaining my ged thru a community college someone please help! #advice #qualifications #tired #frustrated #RetailCustomerService #retail

I was recently laid off after 30 years at my previous employer all because my general manager had it in for me. Even though HR told me I was eligible for rehire, I think that was BS, because every job I’ve applied for I’ve either gotten a rejection email or never heard anything. I’ve signed up with LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, etc. and directly applied to various company websites. Rejection after rejection. I’m getting tired of the Robo-Recruiters that read my resume and reject it because I don’t have a degree. Any suggestions on what I can do next?

My position unexpectedly closed back in May of this year. I was blindsided & then I sulked for 2 months in anger. Then I decided to get out into the world of job hunting. Application after application, interview after interview. Then I gave in & went to an employment agency just to further my disappointment. Believe me I'm still going to accept a job offer when it finally presents itself because I need fuel (money) so that I could make more money and also pay my bills. I'm also walking through open doors of opportunity when they present themselves.
I have spent these past months reading the posts and comments of others here on jobcase & we are all in this together in one way or another.
Yes, I'm frustrated & scared & disappointed but I know there is something out there for me; I will be where I'm meant to be.
In the meantime, to my complete surprise, I decided to take an IT course. I have always been afraid of IT. I assumed I had to have a math brain or an engineer brain, I assumed it was computer coding and very hard, so yes, I avoided it like I avoid germs.
My goodness I was so far from the truth & completely wrong. I began the first lesson today, & I laughed so hard (more at myself for my past assumptions), it is so much easier than you would ever think or assume.
No, I am not an affiliate. No, this is not an MLM. Yes, this truly is simply a course that is easy to learn & apply to the real life work environment.
This is completely your choice. I'm am only presenting a realistic helpful option for you.
I wish the best for everyone. & I figured there is someone out there that would like this information.

Asking 18-22.00 per hour.

Well, I knew it was to good to be true. My team lead kept telling me I was doing a good job but I wasn't selling much. Now I'm laid off due to "lack of productivity". Which i understand, I wasn't selling but to be told I'm doing well and to then get laid off is an odd circumstance. Well here I go finding a new job. I just pray I can stay afloat on my bills.

I was laid off in 2016 after sixteen years service as a graphic designer. I have been a GD for 30+ years working with many programs. I completed AAS degree in Web Design at end of 2018. I have been searching for work as graphic designer for 9 months. After many job offers to sell insurance, I finally got an interview with a printing company for a GD position. Nailed interview, got job & agreed on pay rate (no other benefits). First week I was given little design work. Mostly finishing procedures (padding, cutting, folding etc). Paycheck on the next Monday was at rate promised. The second week, more of same work, little computer work. The second Monday I was called into office and before giving me my check, owners wife says “we’ve decorated, since you just graduated and don’t know computers, we’ve cut your hourly wage $4/hr. So you will notice this check is smaller.” I then told her first that yes I just graduated web design and that I was not hired to do web work for them. I have done graphic work on the computer for 30 years. Using Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for at lest 10. This pay change was below the pay rate choices that were given as options in the interview, it was not what we had agreed on, it was unacceptable, and I was out of there. I don’t know if I should pursue back pay, file a grievance, report to BBB or what I should do. I did quit the job and am now looking for full time employment again at age 53.

In this video, Linda breaks down the ‘why did you leave your last job’ answer. Why did you leave your job is an important question and if you want to know the why did you leave your last job answer then I discuss that here. The best answer for leaving a job is always telling the truth. I'll help you explain if anyone asks why did you leave your previous job. Watch my video as I discuss scenarios and how to approach why did you leave your last job answers.

If you were fired or laid off, Don is going to tell you how you can explain to a prospective employer that you were laid off from your last job. People get laid off. There's nothing you can do about it.
So, if you were let go, Don gives you a few ideas that you can use to tell employers that it really wasn't your fault. And one of the things that you really want to come through, to be crystal clear, in your answer as to why you were let go or why you're laid off is to let them know that it wasn't a result of your professional performance.
- You want to let them know it had nothing to do with you.
- You want to let them know that your performance was excellent.
- Let them know that your boss thought your performance is great.
- You want to talk about how much you liked working there.
- You want to talk about how much you enjoyed what you did, you enjoyed the people.
So, you want to make it clear that it had nothing to do with your personal performance.

After being laid off as result of investor buyout, merging 2 companies together, 4 yrs of double domain upheaval, new business model, hardware changes, major software swapping, remote contractors being remotely supported and an on call phone shared by 3 people making work/life balance nonexistent, I was finally hit by tenured personnel being replaced by contract workers like in most other departments. Was so much that it was almost a relief to have 3 months severance pay for sabbatical purposes but now have been in job search mode for 6 months and just not sure where I am. Nothing but 2/3 pay contract or contract to hire prospects doing what I was doing. Have tried to get other jobs closer to home where work/life balance of no commute time and money offsets the lower pay, ones I'm capable of doing but no experience making a living doing on resume. Just a lot of interviews leading to nothing. Not sure if 33 yrs in IT is it or over qualified appearance of bolting back to other job offer or no resume experience or what. Doesn't seem I can even score entry level stuff. Kind of lost as to what to even try for at this point.
