Great Company to work for and I would work again

I have worked for Drum and was laid off in July when the contact for the Gucci store and the surround block was canceled because Gucci moved and three or four other stores closed. Would really like to work for Mr. Drum again.

Larry’s Deli in San Diego was a great job with amazing potential unfortunately the few people that had run of the store were not so amazing they over work and under pay their employees, they committed fraud and want their employees to engage in it , they will make you work wit injuries they will change your time cards. They had my under age daughter serve alcohol and tap beer , they to say the least are very unprofessional

I was laid off in 2016 after sixteen years service as a graphic designer. I have been a GD for 30+ years working with many programs. I completed AAS degree in Web Design at end of 2018. I have been searching for work as graphic designer for 9 months. After many job offers to sell insurance, I finally got an interview with a printing company for a GD position. Nailed interview, got job & agreed on pay rate (no other benefits). First week I was given little design work. Mostly finishing procedures (padding, cutting, folding etc). Paycheck on the next Monday was at rate promised. The second week, more of same work, little computer work. The second Monday I was called into office and before giving me my check, owners wife says “we’ve decorated, since you just graduated and don’t know computers, we’ve cut your hourly wage $4/hr. So you will notice this check is smaller.” I then told her first that yes I just graduated web design and that I was not hired to do web work for them. I have done graphic work on the computer for 30 years. Using Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for at lest 10. This pay change was below the pay rate choices that were given as options in the interview, it was not what we had agreed on, it was unacceptable, and I was out of there. I don’t know if I should pursue back pay, file a grievance, report to BBB or what I should do. I did quit the job and am now looking for full time employment again at age 53.

I’m on here posting about, Armed Security Officer jobs. As well as night stocker positions at grocery stores .

Being in cyber Security most of my life, I am not at all surprised about how Recruiters are abusing the Job Seekers. Remember people, we live in an age where SCAMS and Identity theft is huge. Where else to steal information, but from a Job Seeker lured in with the promise of a new Job? You give them pertinent information, they take it and get someone else hired or all of a sudden, your credit cards are invalidated, your Bank accounts drained and your life thrown into Identity Theft hell. Does this really happen to Job Seekers? YES, IT DOES!
I'm in the process of finalizing a 2-part article for Job Seekers and Job Recruiters. With years of experience in talking with recruiters, my knowledge is first hand and extensive. Do not be gullible and just hand out your Personal Information. Be and Stay Cyber Secure.
Here are some tips for the Job Seekers:
They will ask you for DOB; Not legal to ask this. They use your age against you for Job Discrimination. No one but your Employer needs to know your DOB as that it is part of the on-boarding process for the Employer ONLY.
They will request your Passport Number. Remember. This is a Federally issued ID. Why in the world would a recruiter need this? There are no logical reasons a Recruiter requires this. It CAN be used as a form of ID for the Employer at the time of on-boarding in person, after you gain the job! Protect this number as you would your Social Security or Bank account numbers.
Skype ID: Why? We find today that there are a number of Social Media Accounts being broken into and stolen/hijacked for nefarious reasons. DO NOT give ANY information out about you other than the normal. Normal being, Name, Address, Salary desired, Resume. If the Client or Employer is that interested, they will follow up later. Besides, most employers will use their OWN video conferencing software, not a personal Skype ID.
3a) If the company is using Facetime or WhatsApp, remember that both of these are being monitored from Facebook and your "meetings" are being recorded and used for other reasons. If they are interested in you, they will use a Professional Video Conferencing Software and not standard APPS.
- Last 4 of Social Security Number. As a person who understands the dark arts of security, with the last 4 digits and your DOB or other information, I can reconstruct your full SS number in a matter of minutes. (google it) If I can do this, so are the Identity theft individuals. NO Recruiter should be asking for this. None. If the Recruiter is ALSO a Consulting Firm and AFTER the process of interviews is complete, ONLY give your SS or last 4 to the HR person.
4a) Verify WHO you are talking to on the phone interviews. Ask the Recruiter for the LinkedIn profile links of those that are going to perform the interview. Ask for the Web Address of the Company. Research the individuals and company to ensure you are not being duped here. Search for Pros & Cons about the company or the interviewers via Google. During the Interview, you SHOULD ask questions of the interviewer about their background and items that are on their LinkedIn page. If the Interviewer asks for Personal Information (Last 4, etc.), take a step back from the Interview. NO interviewer should be discussing or asking for personal information. The High Level and Technical Interviews should be based upon what is in your Resume and how confident you can talk to it.
These are just some tips. I'll be posting Part 1 of the Article on LinkedIn in the next coming weeks. Find and read it. Let me know your comments.
The best way to protect you, your family and your Personal Information is to be aware that there ARE scammers out there in the Job Market.
Be and Stay Cyber Secure!
