Does anyone out there know of truly gainful employment in the Huntsville Alabama region? I got unfairly terminated from my job in January now every time I even get an interview that employer is sabotaging my chances at a job. I mean right out slander! I do have an attorney working on this but honestly if I can’t get the potential employer’s to admit to this I really don’t know my chances. I am 48 and though I don’t care at this point if I have to work fast food or something else I just need a job. My age and my experience scare lower level employers away and all of my experience is in the field that I have worked for over 20 years. I don’t think that any of my previous employers still have anyone there that knows me and there are at least one that I’m sure do not even have employment records so nothing for a potential employer to ask about a reference # HELP

I still work part time for the Thrower Law Firm as manager, paralegal and notary.

It is illegal for an interviewer to ask about marital or family status. One assumption is if you don't have family, then you may not have roots to stay ...or if you have family [another assumption or bias] is that you may take time off to care for them. With that, it is illegal to ask such questions just as it is regarding religion, nationality, etc, etc. The only time that question might come up would be via HR as you are filling out paperwork for health insurance...and my experience is that you are still not asked. Instead, the question is on the insurance paperwork. The problem --and I have experienced this in my lifetime like you--is how do you prove it? I suppose you could file a complaint...then again, with an interviewer like that, you may be lucky to not be working for them. I suspect this person and/or company would have been terrible and discriminatory in other ways...but just an assumption on my part. I say this: I hope you and other people do put their families first. Can't get time back. More companies need to instill that culture...after all, a happy, satisfied employee will routinely translate to greater productivity for the employer. Take care and positive vibes for you and your search for employment.

Good pay, full and part time hours available. High end, luxury work environments. Low pressure gig.

The ability to work in a respected company. The pay. The flexibility.

I knew Jordan Parker and respect him. They are a well known company that is supportive of their employees. They would work around my school schedule.

In December 2019 my husband and I were told that after 20 years of working for a major dealership as IT Consultants that we were getting too old (65 and 67) and couldn’t give many more years of work as a younger worker could... We were in shock and many of the co workers and Managers were appalled to see us go because they said that our work was outstanding. Can we sue for age discrimination? It has been next to impossible to find jobs since then because the employers seem to be afraid of older workers. We just want to work and do not even ask for any benefits just a paycheck.

I was told before hiring I could easily make $80000-$100000 in first year and after 4 months no way that can happen for IAM only being given 20-25 hours a week and still part time. It was a total let down and lie from beginning by two highest supervisors. What a disappointment. Going elsewhere with my notice next week as I'm hired for my same abilities and more. They led me on. I have been a excellent person and customer said to me the other day I have helped her more than anyone she ever met in any Home Depot. A True learning experience. Move on to move forward and upwardly.
