The Transportation and Security Administration is still looking to fill up to 6,000 new Security Officer jobs by September 2021.

Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) are the face of the agency, the people on the front lines and the most important role at TSA. For many people, working as a TSO has led to a long, fulfilling career with the federal government. Apply online today at TSA - National Security Officer Hiring Initiative

In order to attract more employees, the agency is now offering a $1,000 sign-up bonus.

General Job Duties:

  • TSOs are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. Their duties may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures and/or anything that includes or impacts TSA transportation systems.

Job Training:

  • TSOs are eventually required to complete an immersive training program at the TSA Academy. Located in the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, the program is a total of 80 compensable hours.

  • TSA covers all travel expenses and lodging, as students must reside on-center or in FLETC-provided housing for the entirety of the program. While the TSA Academy provides the foundation for success, employees continue to receive training throughout their TSA career.

Start your Tuesday with a Smile and think Positive and remember you can achieve anything you set your mind to do. Make a plan, turn it into actions and watch the results. All things are possible when you think Positive.

I always wake up on memorial day morning with a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility. My daughters don’t even question their freedom or safety and i know its because of sacrifices others have made (and make daily). I think of that Tom Hanks death scene in Saving Private Ryan where he looks at Matt Damon and says “earn this”. I am going to take the morning and think what more I might do to help keep our country strong and growing and preserve our strength of ‘United we stand’. And then I intend to act on that moving forward. I feel I owe it to heroes like Charles Fischer and Warren Bornholz who gave their lives covering our last living WWII Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Woody Williams and so many like them. Check out the link about Woody below and about his subsequent dedication to Gold Star families. I’m humbled and inspired by him. I think you will be too.
