If your not a hard worker in willing to carry heavy equipment sand bags tools oxygen tanks Plus more and dedicated and willing to come back the next day for the next 10 years and do it all over again it’s not for you.

The biggest mistake when I was working with local 79 was when I first started. I was building a scaffold and spent all day working on it bring all the frames, cross braces, jack stands, planks and clamps. Then the rest of the day I build the scaffold and when it was ready to be checked I didn’t level and plum the scaffold so I had to do it all over.

A stressful day at local 79 is when there’s a dead line working with a brick layer company. And you have to get 5000, to 7,000 bricks on the other side of the building plus mix the cement and carry it from the front of the build to the back of the building. Also moving scaffolding for the brick layers because they have to move a certain speed. And as the bricks get higher the scaffold have to be bumped up so the brick layers could continue to build the building. This process could be very stressful Because it’s so much heavy lifting to do In a short amount of time the stressful part is when you on your 7 hr and your trying to find energy to finish that last hour.

In the last eight year I could proudly say I’ve never had a encounter with a disagreement with any boss supervisor or coworker i’m polite honest it’s hard working and I was the shop steward

I love attend union meeting to learn what’s going on in the union and how well the union is doing also it allows you to reach out to other workers so the work flows with each man in the union

Working at Local 79 as a Shopsteward was an amazing experience. Learning the in’s and out’s of the unions politics and policies was great information to learn while working there. Helping workers while in the union understand union politics and policy’s was in amazing feeling. One story that I gave great advices was when I helped a worker that have been treated wrongfully by a previous company. The company haven’t paid him and didn’t pay into his benefits, I told the worker how to find his Shopsteward that was working with him at that point in time because the Shopsteward makes sure the union men sign in and out calculating there hours for the union. I also thought him how to file an grievance with the union to get his check and hours towards his pension we became friends and the out come of the situation made him so joyful.

I liked it , it was hard work it was a good job an career, you had a chance to grow , you were always learning something new . It was a good pay check at the end of the week
