Be very cautious. Nuance can be a very good company or the worst mistake you have made, and it all comes down to the luck of the draw with your accounts and manager. I have experienced both. I started at Nuance when my company was bought out (with much apprehension). The first year was great! I kept the same accounts I had worked for the past 3 years (straight typing with no VR) with my original company, same hours, work was plentiful, always 40+ hours per week, which is what I was accustomed to. Nuance's pay scale is what I would call "off the charts" if you have good accounts and are a fairly decent MLS. I was earning close to $30/hour for that year. I was contributing to my 401K, had excellent medical/dental/disability insurances - great benefits as long as you have the income to support them! However, Nuance decided to do away with the platform I was working on and to transfer my accounts to another platform. When they do that, the MLS does not go with the account, it is assigned to whomever is working the new platform. I was placed in a general work pool and waited for more work, which I was sure would be coming. On December 15 (a Friday), I was notified that "congratulations, we have placed you on a new account!" I was happy about that until Monday the 18th, where I found I was being placed on a new platform, assigned to 4 new hospital accounts, and it was almost entirely VR, which I have never done. (It has been about 4 weeks now, and I have earned right around $100 per week, trying to learn these accounts with an extremely low work volume - constantly out of work) To top things off, on the 19th I was informed by my new manager that "unfortunately you will have to work on both Christmas and New Years, due to it being too late to request time off on this account." At this point, after an amazing year with Nuance, I have applied for unemployment due to underemployment and am very actively seeking a new job. This is not the work environment for me. Again, though, it does come down to luck. If you end up placed on a good platform/good account/good manager's team.. well, things can go very well for you! Best of luck job seekers!
