Good Morning Community,

Happy Friday, Friday’s are the part of the week for me. Knowing the weekend is here and one day closer to being able to relax for 2 days. It allows me to look back at the week and see my accomplishments for that week. You can do the same regardless of what position you are in. When searching for a job during the week, you can reflect on how you did or didn’t do? Make adjustments for the coming weeks ahead. Maybe you applied for a position and didn’t get the job? What would you do differently? Use it to your advantage for the next position you apply too. Don’t allow them to stand in your way in the future. Like a flower planted and didn’t grow as fast as expected. A few days later you look back and it bloomed. It’s the same with how you apply for jobs. If you didn’t get hired for the job you applied for and applied to others and got offers. You blossomed into a new career and now your growing with the company. May your Friday be filled with job offers and success today and Everyday! #MyThoughts #advice

Good Morning Community,

This weekend while painting a shed for my client I started talking to a tenant. What a great conversation it was to keep in mind. He started by telling me how he use to do the work. He was a roofer, and as he told the story. It started with making good money, the more money he made, the more he wanted. It came to a point where he started working 7 days per week. The more money he made the more he spent. Then he got hurt on the job, dealing with health issues, he no longer can work. Looking back he said he wished he could have changed the past way of thinking. What do you think? Are you in the same boat? Are you taking time to enjoy family and friends?

Looking for a job while you’re still employed at a full-time job can be difficult. Not only does it take a lot of time but you have to be discreet so that you don’t lose your current job before you’re ready to move on to the next position. In this article, we offer 12 tips on how to search for a new job while still employed.

Here are some basic tips you can use to find a new job while you’re still working:

  1. Use discretion.

  2. Use only your personal devices for searching.

  3. Schedule smartly.

  4. Use former employers as references.

  5. Be cognizant of your attire.

  6. Update your LinkedIn profile.

  7. Make job-related calls away from the office.

  8. Job hunt on your own time.

  9. Ask potential employers to be discreet.

  10. Be careful online.

  11. Continue to work hard.

  12. Maintain a positive attitude.

  1. Use discretion

While it can be tempting to talk to a coworker, you shouldn’t. Your intent to find employment elsewhere could easily get back to your supervisor, resulting in an unexpected dismissal. It’s best to use discretion and tell no one at work that you are looking for other employment opportunities.

  1. Use only your personal devices for searching

Only use your personal phone, computer or email for conducting job searches. If it’s necessary to conduct any job search-related business while you are at work, use your cell phone and your own data plan rather than the company WiFi. Use only your personal email account for searching as well. You may want to consider setting up a business email address to appear more professional to hiring managers. For example, you could set up a Google business email address that looks like yourname@yourwebsite.com.

  1. Schedule smartly

Let the prospective employer know that you’re trying to be discreet with your job search and ask if you can interview before or after work or over lunch. If that’s not possible, consider taking a personal day or, if you can schedule the interview far enough in advance, use a vacation day.

  1. Use former employers as references Most hiring managers are comfortable with being given references from a previous employer. Compile a list of previous employers and supervisors and let them know in advance that they may be hearing from potential new employers.

  2. Be cognizant of your attire

If your interview is after work or during lunch hour, be careful about what you wear into the office. Wearing a suit in a casual work environment, for example, would likely alert your employer that you’re interviewing elsewhere. That said, depending on the culture of the company with which you are interviewing, smart casual may be more appropriate. Have a plan in place for where you’ll change on the way to the interview and allow time to make the transition.

  1. Update your LinkedIn profile

Before you begin editing, turn off notifications so that changes won’t be broadcast to your personal LinkedIn network. Keep your listed skills updated and consistent with what you’re doing at your current job. Make sure that your photo is current and professional but avoid any drastic changes in your profile. It’s best to keep your profile updated at all times so it’s 100% complete and current when you’re ready to make a career move. While you are at it, update your Jobcase Profile too.

  1. Make job-related calls away from the office Employers often want to conduct screening calls before scheduling a formal interview. Make sure you schedule these or any other job search-related calls when you are going to be away from the office. Go to a nearby coffee shop or your car where you can focus and have complete privacy.

  2. Job hunt on your own time

Make sure you’re doing all job search activities when you’re at home, on your own time. Avoid the temptation to review new job postings from your mobile device or respond to emails from potential employers. If emails need to be responded to more quickly, set aside time over your lunch hour to take care of these. To put yourself in the right frame of mind for job hunting, block out one or two hours each day that you will use to peruse job postings, search companies, write cover letters and submit resumes.

  1. Ask potential employers to be discreet Hiring managers and recruiters understand that you don’t want your employer to know you’re looking for a new position. Be clear and direct about your need for discretion to avoid any ambiguity. If you have any concerns that the recruiter may not be discreet, consider looking for someone new to aid you in your search.

  2. Be careful online

Be careful when you’re using social media or visiting job boards. A single status update could alert your employer that you’re looking for open positions elsewhere. Minimize the risk by checking your privacy settings and using services that mask your identity when you post your resume online.

  1. Continue to work hard

It’s important to continue to put forth your best effort at work and maintain a strong relationship with your supervisor and coworkers. While you do have a personal obligation to yourself to find opportunities that are emotionally, intellectually and personally fulfilling, you still want to maintain positive working relationships with those around you so that when you do eventually secure a new position elsewhere, they will be viable options for future references for you.

  1. Maintain a positive attitude

Even though you’ve decided that you’re ready to seek opportunities elsewhere, maintain a positive attitude. Accept additional assignments such as mentoring a new coworker. Be a team player and maintain your enthusiasm even though you know that the position or the company is no longer the right fit for you. #jobsearch #application #hiringevents #MyThoughts

Happy Wednesday, Start your morning by hopping into your Profile and Update it? It’s a proven fact updating your profile can lead to better results.

Recruiters will find you easier.

You may or may not be job hunting, but that is no reason to hide or allow your professional identity to grow stagnant. One cannot predict what the future holds, or when a change may be imminent. Although you may not be planning an alteration in your career, it is still wise to remain visible to recruiters. In the event you need those contacts, you will be glad you maintained your online presence; and an up-to-date professional profile is the most attainable way to achieve that. Accordingly, a recent study by Forbes showed that 93 percent of recruiters use LinkedIn, and spend considerable amounts of money to have premium memberships. Every time you complete a program, achieve a goal, or accomplish any considerable undertaking, you are becoming more valuable to the job market and the business world at large. However, if you do not update your online resumes and profiles, no one will ever know how hard you have worked.

Top of the search engines.

In most cases, when someone “Googles” your name, your LinkedIn profile is the first or second listing on the page. This is important because 94 percent of users never proceed past the first page of searching. So, unless you are spending an inordinate amount of time and money on SEO of your own website or online resume, keeping your LinkedIn & Jobcase profile up to date is your best bet to be seen for all your accomplishments. #jobsearch

It’s time to Think Fresh, Think New, each Day! Today’s a New Day, a brighter day to think of new ideas. Don’t allow it to stand in your way of obtaining a job. Don’t allow yesterday’s anger to ruin today. Think Positive and believe you can overcome yesterday’s challenges. Start each day as if it was your first day in applying. Reach out to others and share your interest in finding a job. Why is it easier to stay upset than to be happy? I always look at things in a positive way. When something doesn’t go right, I look back and say how could I change it? As a person who deals with stress on a daily basis’, it not always easy. Start your day with a smile and know you can do it. Have a Blessed Hiring Day! #advice #mythoughts

#MyThoughts Spread Your Wings to that New Career!

I thought I would share a couple of thoughts with the community. Recently started to hire more workers. It’s been 3 weeks and I am frustrated with the responses. Are people who are searching for employment asking for too much? I interviewed 25 people over the past three weeks. The things I heard, drove me crazy. Can I have weekends & Holidays Off? Can we increase the pay? I can’t work Monday’s, Wednesday’s, to name a few. Taken back by the request, I decide to give one of them a chance and hired them. We both agreed to working every other weekend and Monday’s off. The first week he started he had Monday Off. No show on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday he showed up. I called him into speak with him. When asking why he didn’t call or show up for work on Tuesday & Wednesday? He replied “I had to take care of personal issues”. Why didn’t you call or text me? “I was busy”. The end result Not Hired! Does this sound familiar? What is holding you from moving forward in your career?
