I had the unfortunate experience of being under Northwestern Medicine for about 18 months. During that time, many, many people were laid off from the wonderful hospital I worked at (Marianjoy.) Northwestern took a small, friendly, wonderful hospital and made it into its own likeness which is terrible. There was never any communication from leadership and even when they pretended to take an interest, they didn't care about the employees. It is a huge corporation which just doesn't care about its 30,000 employees. They eventually did away with my whole department, giving no thought to the people who had worked for Marianjoy for so many years. The best thing they ever did for me was to lay me off and let me get away from a horrible institution. I cannot say anything bad about their healthcare. The doctors I know were in practice before NM took over. Northwestern Medicine is the most incompetent entity I have ever had the unfortunate experience to work for. They were horrible, plain and simple. You don't want to work for them unless you absolutely have to.
