I just got some really good advice from @theheartshines, and wanted to share it!

You might be working in a toxic work culture if:

  1. Manager says taking time off makes you look bad, or staying late is required
  2. You get threats to improve results

Has anything like this ever happened to you? #watercooler #RedFlag #RUNifTHIShappens

I was laid off in June 2017 and have been frantically looking for work. I'm a single mom and it's tough without a job. I don't want to lose our house. Anyway, I have been going on interviews and two weeks ago, I signed for a background check. The lady came back and said, I'm going to shred this in front of you as we will not be able to conduct the interview because you have been red flagged. She refused to provide any information to me so I could follow up or find out what was going on. A friend of mine did a basic background check and nothing popped up. I have never been fired or at fault of negligence on a job. A friend told me that I did something wrong is why I brought that up. I have always passed backgrounds. Anyway, I don't understand what happened, or what steps I need to take in order to remedy this. Any feedback is welcome. Please!!!
