Retirement is not a viable option for many of us. We have built up a certain way of living and in order to maintain that way we have to continue working. It is vital to contribute something by working. I suppose that defines work - compensation for contribution.

I have been with my company for over 4 years and have had 3 different positions. I was hired at the very bottom and my salary was pretty much the lowest the company hires people at. I have finally moved up and became a level 2 a year ago when I was hired for a level 3 position but HR wanted to keep me as a 1 and not give me a raise. I was promised a raise in my previous role before I decided to leave and they did not hold up that promise. I I then moved positions and got a very small bump that I had to fight for and am still at the lowest of the low for my position. Anyone that gets hired off the streets receives a good 10-20k more than I do a year. If I leave my company I cannot come back for a year and my current position is work from home. I really do like my position and am learning a lot and gaining great knowledge to become a project manager but I don’t feel I am being compensated fairly... should I leave or go to HR? We have appraisals coming up in a month and we just did a re-org for our whole department so I am worried there will be no money for raises. I’m thinking if I do not get one then I should definitely look to move on? Any thoughts? It’s hard to give up a work from home position that I actually really like!

Who is this law supposed to protect? The employer or the employee?

I feel like the only pros to this law are for the employer... Anyone agree/disagree?

Hey everyone. So I have a good news and bad news. Good news is I have gotten a job with the county job. I start on Monday; it’s only temporary, extra help and lasts for one year. But the bad news is that I haven’t been able to pay for my insurance thru covered CA & now it’s terminated.

I know open enrollment is over and most likely I’ll have to pay a fine but to avoid it, how do I enroll in health insurance again? I had Kaiser and I want to keep it the same

I got a job at a Fresco y Mas location. The job is rather under-rewarding honestly. Everyone says the first job's always hell. But, after a month, the company filed for bankruptcy. What do I do? Should I stay at this job or leave before it goes kaput?

My question is how do I get my manager to stop messing around and put me in the position I originally applied for? I interviewed for the pharmacy technician position and was told it would have to be up front until the transition of the new pharmacy manager took place. It's been four months ago and Everytime I ask about my position it's excuses. I even took it upon myself to talk to the district manager and he doing the same exact thing. What should I do?! I put in applications to other stores but I really don't want to up and quit.
