I did not get the opportunity to actually meet anyone from corporate myself , other than my consultant who was no help . She had not had the previous DON put several policies into being and she dumped it into my lap . Then all the powers that be at the time before I arrived covered a a major problem up and it was not documented , and everyone said oh yes we knew about that . I followed the policy, and the cost of this was a problem that I was blamed for . If the problem had been handled correctly in the first place the cost would have been insignificant.

Look elsewhere. Too many safety issues. No commitment to excellence. No concrete training or orientation. LVNs are running many of the positions typically held by RN’s such as Quality, Infection Control, Safety/Risk, U/R, and Case Management. Many of the Administrators do not have Degrees nor the work history to hold their titles-such as the COO, Vice President, Hospital Administrator, HR Director, and the nurse leader has only been nursing 4 years and it’s her first Nursing job! No critical thinking skills. No vision. No buy-in. Blame and finger-pointing is what you’ll get. There are too many other quality facilities to choose from. This place may not even be able to survive the current deficiencies that are in place.

My biggest mistake was believing that the administration had the patients best interests at heart. I’m all about patient advocacy and standards of care. This was my strength, and I was totally committed to my position and need for process improvement ; this is when I learned the hard way that this hospital does not support quality care and initiatives. It is when the facility fell into jepordy with the state that I realized that finger-pointing and blame were to occur. Despite all my best efforts, prior to and leading up to these deficiencies within the Facility, the recommendation I’d given and all of the supportive data shared with administration was not addressed and as predicted, they are failing. Of course, I never in a million years thought they would try and place blame on me. I was committed to being a change agent as I do my job well. Apparently that doesn’t matter to the administration ( to call them leaders would be a gross misuse of the word) . There had to be a fall guy. That was me. I was one of the staff that fell from grace. Despite all of my efforts and commitment and loyalty and hundreds of hours beyond the call of duty. Shameful really.

Trusting my supervisor

Work part-time..great staff. They now have gone to computer charts.
