Okay, Corona ---this is BS! I know its not my employer's fault but as a fulltime employee, its super scary to have your schedule cut to only 12 hours per week.

I work as a shift supervisor at a local fast food joint. I'm thinking that I should try and find a part time job because we don't know how long this will last.

When I apply to a new place, should I tell them upfront that I have no intention of staying long term...? I dont know how to go about that...

Just saw a story that Schnucks and Dollar General are also participating in a "senior hour", where only senior citizens are allowed to be in the stores for shopping. What a great idea, what do others think?

Here's the article I saw: https://www.news-gazette.com/coronavirus/senior-hour-at-area-grocery-stores-feedback-has-been-very/article_7ae03a49-882f-53e2-9fcb-26e5f3170001.html

As a senior, trying to get a part-time job this has been difficult, since the Corona viris going on. Not only people are out of work, and not getting any response to unemployment. This is a terrible time, for us to get exposed. We think it would get better, it's just getting worst! We need to take care, of ourselves, if not who will!...

My pick today? Wegmans!

Wegmans is a grocery chain originating from my home town in upstate New York. This past Sunday I went to Wegmans to stock up on essentials. As I walked through the store, I noticed small changes such as hand sanitizer stations always in reach and a check out experience that ensured social distancing throughout the end to end checkout process. These may sound minor, but they may have been the one thing that prevents my family from getting sick.

More Interesting --> it was SO clear they were equally protecting their workers, just as much as their customers. Check out some of these benefits they are currently offering to help their employees:

  1. Voluntary leave will not result in you losing your job.
  2. Increased pay for the employees who decide to come in and work in the face of a global pandemic.
  3. Quickly updated their disability pay policies so employees don't need to worry if they get #coronavirus

This info was found from Wegman's website: https://www.wegmans.com/news-media/press-releases/wegmans-response-to-covid-19-2/

I hope to see more of these large employers step up and begin offering similar benefits to their workers, regardless of the impact to business.

My restaurant that I work for closed. We are only open for take out so the manager cut my hours so much that I barely was working at all. I had to move back home with my parents. I feel so ashamed.

I want to give an #employershoutout to CVS Health. They have announced that they plan to fill 50,000 full-time, part-time and temporary roles across the country. They will utilize a technology-enabled hiring process that includes virtual job fairs, virtual interviews and virtual job tryouts!!

Additionally, they will be awarding bonuses to employees who are required to work during this Coronavirus pandemic.

You can more up within the company if your willing to be available to work 7 days a week from 6:00 am to 10:00pm. With two days off each week. And every week is different. The hourly pay is under minimum wage with maybe 50 cent raises

The first year I worked at the store it was great due to the excellent employees and management. We worked as a team. The second year management changed Which created low morale and high turnover. The store was micromanaged under strict procedures and lack of respect towards staff. I think the company has a great product but they do not values employees.
