Any position in science dept

I was pushed by my parents to go to college where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
I'm interested in the field, of course, but in a few select areas. So, as I search for jobs, I keep drifting to trade listings which are far more numerous and seem better suited to my style which makes me question if I was put on the wrong path. I don't have the skills or experience and can't afford to go back to school. How do I convince companies to give me a chance? I realize that I'm not going to be very useful without training, but I'm a quick learner... This is where I get stumped. Anyone can claim such a trait, so how do I make my case?

In a week and a half, I am getting my Master’s in Public Health from Walden University’s online program. I maintained a 4.0 GPA, and am an Honor’s Society member. I have applied for several positions, and have been rejected for about three entry-level positions because, according to the companies I applied for, my skills don’t match what they are looking for. I am getting extremely discouraged. I spent close to $27,000 and two years of my life on my Degree while working at my current position. Is an MPH good enough for a Biostatistics position, or do I need to look into something else? I love working with data.

What I enjoyed most about my last job was that it allowed me to make the connections with survey techniques in the field. Surveying land parcels through cadastral and topographic techniques was a great joy to me. Field work is my thing.
