After working in private industry for 30 years, I had the remarkably good fortune of getting hired by Southwest Airlines! Without a doubt, THE best Company to be with as an Employee and as a Customer. From the top to the frontline, SWA treats everyone of us as Family, valuing and practicing The Golden Rule, and embracing having Fun in the workplace. Excellent benefits package which includes not just competitive healthcare, but dollar for dollar 401k match up to 9.3% contribution, and unlimited flight benefits to all 100+ SWA cities. And if you are like me, retired from Southwest with 10 years of service, the same unlimited flight benefits for life! Yes, Southwest Airlines is a quality Customer Service Company that just happens to be in the airline business!

I would still say that working at SWA is a great Company to work for. If you follow their standards, you should do well. Joe Mondragon

I was a Shop Steward and tried to keep as many agents on the job as I could. Yes, there were 2 incidents that didn't go my way at the beginning that ,being a new Steward, I missed and they were fired. Joe Mondragon

I don't recall anyone, either, on the phones nor in person getting mad nor irritated with me except for this new manager. I have never given any reason for ire to be brought up. Joe Mondragon

The most stressful day was when I was Fired from SWA. I was accused of things I did against the Airline. I DO know the new manager never liked me but listened to another shop steward who she had known precviously. I think , NO, I have found that they colluded to get me fired. Those were Stressful days. I was in SEAn's Reservation Center in OKC and received a call of frustration from a customer. HE had just missed his flight and no other Carrier would take SWA's ticket. I asked what Airport he was in and found he was in Houston. I asked him to go to SEAn's Supervisor and let him know of his situation. At times and due to circumstances another Airline will help. I could not give out my address but I did find out a month later that United had talked to a SWA Supervisor and between them they were able to get a customer on a flight to see his brand new baby boy. I really enjoyed my work, the friendship, the way it was set up. Also, the advantage to move up, which I had hoped to.
