I became unemployed back in January. I sent out my resume to well over 100 places and was called back to three. I really wanted to work in the veterinary profession, but I’m not licensed as a tech.
I was actually ready to give up when I saw that one of my favorite fast food restaurants were hiring. I applied to the five closest locations and recently got hired.
I’m 36 and had a consistent work history of ~13 years. But, finally, after nearly 8 months, I have work. I’m excited to get back to the workforce. I have fur children to take care of that I depend on for emotional and mental health.

***UPDATE-SEE UPDATE BELOW ***
After a month of applications the last 2 weeks have been wonderful. I’ve had several interviews, 3 more scheduled and so far 1 job offer. I have feeling I may be offered 1 or 2 more.
I’ve had to be submitted to jobs paying $12,000-$16,000/yr less than what I’ve made in the past. That’s $6-$8/hr less! I guess that’s to be expected after being unemployed for over a year.
What are your thoughts on taking a pay cut to get in the door?
Regardless, I’m feeling blessed.
UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE All interviews went great. I’ve received multiple job offers. 3 offers and expecting 1 more. Could this be leveraged to negotiate my salary? Would you mention the other offers to the each employer?

A company took me to lunch and offered me a position. I accepted the next day. It’s been two week since I’ve heard from them. I emailed them and they said they would contact me soon. Been about a week. It is a manager position.

I am 60 years old. I am a baby boomer with too much education, I made too much money and I had to settle for 30K less than I was making before. I now make only 1/3 of what I made before the recession hit. It amazes me that in 2019 experience and and education does not translate to $$$. There is age discrimination and for the first time in my career, I have experienced it. FYI

So I am taking a year off from college since I am not sure what I want to do with my career. I’m in some debt and received a food delivery job where I am averaging $15 an hour. I love it. I am over customer service jobs as I been doing it for 10 years. I’m 28 and thinking of getting a CDL liscense to get a truck driver job :) I realized I’m not into office jobs and love driving jobs :)

So I just took a leap of faith and moved from a small town to large city. The move was well needed. Anyways I applied to many places before I came up in hopes to have a job ready for me when I came. I had 3 interviews lined up for my first week, and all on the same day. I went to the 1st one and the interview seemed to went well. However as I watch the staff I would be working with no one had a smile and all look real unhappy. I then go to my next Interview the Interview went well because I was offered the job during the interview and I took it. The pay was fare. I than messaged the 3rd Interview to tell them I was offered a job somewhere else and I would not be coming for the interview and thanked them for taking the time to scaled a interview. Two days went by and the 1st interview contacts me and offer me the same job as the one I took but for $1/hour more than I was offered from the job I took. So after considering the offer and I decided to turn the higher paying job down. Solely based on the fact the staff all seemed nerviness and unhappy. I have been at the lower paying job for 1 week now and I Like the job and all the people I have meat working so far.
Do you think taking the lower paying job was a good Idea?
When my 30 day comes the manager will review my work and stuff and I know I am doing great everyone around has told me so. Should I ask for the $1/hour more and use the messages between me and the Higher paying manager as leverage to get the extra $1/hour from my current job?

I had what was suppose to be a group interview last week. I was the only one that showed up! { I had been to one other group interview and it didn't go well, i blame the interviewer not me and others.} Anyway, I got a phone call and they are hiring me and gave me dates for new employee orientation. I am still waiting on letter of employment. So heck I wont ever turn down a group interview again!

I have tried since june when i just graduated and i started giving up in july when i went to interview after interview and to top it off i just moved here and dont know anyone. Now they are all pouring in with job offers in august. Im grateful and just know that do not ever give up. I cried many times on why i did not get the job but realized what is meant for you will happen. Think positive and you have to keep your higher power with you. Thank you to all the people who have encourage me and with the community and job case. cause with out you girls and guys i would have strength. So I am bringing this to open hearted thank you for giving me places where i should work and would bring me you comfort and happiness.

Today I got hired at a great Hosptital with excellent pay and benefits. It has been a long journey of interviews knowing I slammed the interviews, but still got no replies. It was difficult knowing that you have 20+ people applying for 4 positions. I'm so very greatful and thankful God has elevated me to receive a blessing only he can give.

I’m a single mother of two with no family at all and a mortgage... I stepped out on faith due to a daily 98 mile round trip commute. I went on LOA in hopes to find a position near my new home that I bought last year. It took almost 4 months and I thought I was going to have to take a big pay cut but God said no you don’t my child. I got exactly what I wanted... $30 an hour with a 15 mile commute. Praise God!!!! Thank you so much for this blessing, now I have more time to spend in my new home with my beautiful children
