GM-- Everyone! So, I accepted a contract position 12/2016, come this Jan 2018 will be a year. I was very specific when I accepted the position no contract/temp longer than 3 maybe 6 mos. I was advised the co seeking to fill the position, because my predecessor was leaving the co for another position, okay great. The person actually gave me a crash how to, which was great! The position was posted like dec 2016 last minute. Naturally, I was considered and after a few months I inquired where were things? Still in decision phase, okay. Later on like 1 - 2 months not going to fill position, but wanted to keep me on, okay. Naturally, I'm still sending out my resumes etc... So, I was suppose to be there until 6/2017; then 10/2017. I was just advised they have gotten approved to keep me on till March 2018. I'm glad to be working for sure, but not feeling the whole contract / temp thing. I totally understand contract is just that, but w/the issue being going permanent being totally understood. Have I spoken w/ agency? Yes- they were going to check to see what was going on. Oh...did I forget to mention they have let go of 1 of the team members, which was a perm employee, that was in 9/2017. All the feedback I have gotten from controller/manager/team members/ field personnel is OUTSTANDING, so no problems w/ my job performance at all. I'm doing a way better job than the person I replaced. It's disappointing for sure. I'm still doing a great job it's in accounting, and I will continue to do so. I've advised the contract agency, of where things stood. I get it's NOT in their control. Just feeling some type of way. I've learned a lot, which I'm grateful for, but at the EOD it is what it is.....Happy ThanksGiving Everyone...have a safe/family/fun/food day.....

I was working with a staffing agency in my job search and recently received a call from them about a possible opportunity. They scheduled a phone interview which the interviewer didn't bother calling - wasting some of my wife's PTO to be there to watch the kid's while I sat waiting for the call. The staffing agency said she was stuck in a meeting and apologized and we rescheduled. Again, no call. Again wife wasted PTO. This time the staffing agency person took the blame saying he didn't send the interviewer the calendar invite and we rescheduled again. The third time worked and the interview went extremely well and received a call from the staffing agent saying they were very impressed and wanted me to meet with the 2 executives I would be supporting as mostly a formality. Three days go by without a call. I call the agent and left a message with no response for a WEEK. I call again and send an email to the agent requesting information on the situation. No response for another 3 days. I call him again and finally get a reply on voicemail saying he's been trying for a week to contact the employer with no success. A few days later I call him again and leaves another voicemail saying he's heard nothing - "she's gone dark" and there's nothing more they can do. I've been working for nearly 30 years now and have NEVER heard of such a situation. In the end, all I wanted was an explanation because it was obviously a place I no longer wanted to work for and to find out if I had done something wrong. All I got was silence. Anyone heard of such a scenario? Anyone have any advice on how to deal with it? Not just the employer but the staffing agency as well.

I have been getting the run around lately when it has come to some of the job interviews that I have had in the past couple of months. I will go trough the first interviewing process and end up doing well then the recruiter will talk about the second interview.

Giving me the name of the contact person who will be calling me. They reassure me that I am a good fit. Then a couple of days or maybe even a week goes by. I have not heard anything so I will send out a follow up email and I do not get a response. I do know that one of the recruiters is someone that I had a bad experience with before. I decided to give her another chance because she was the recruiter for the job that I am interested in.

However once again she disappointed me with no second interview or follow up. This is after she gave in the info on who is going to call me for the second interview. What I have learned in the past almost 2 years now that I have been looking for a job. That there are some recruiters that are not very good and do not have your best interest at heart.

So I found a job, but the temp agency keeps sending me emails and blowing up my phone! ! I politely have explained that I no longer need their services, but they are not getting the hint. I know many people who have used and loved temp agencies, but right now they are driving me crazy. They won’t go away!! I mean how many times can I click unsubscribe?! Not sure what to do. How do you announce to others that you are working and you are happily taken?

Why do recruiters try to patronize me, when speaking to me over the phone like I'm someone with a 5th grade education. I speak very eloquently, and have a various amount of experience in administrative support in healthcare while I'm pursuing my college degree. It really irks my last nerves, as I'm not incompetent nor have I ever been. It literally makes me want to hang up the phone when a recruiter calls to add insult to injury. I cannot wait to get out if this dismal never-ending cycle of temping.

I worked for a temp agency for exactly 2 years . They are a very messy. And recently I got laid off from the job from one of their clients, I filed for unemployment the next day .. it took them 14 days to reply to the unemployment agency with a form that they had sent them ... now they are denying me unemployment benefits... ?? When I called unemployment and asked why they said because my temp agency said I quit . Which is not true ! I got laid off therefore I completed my assignment for their client. I called my temp agency And they said that the reason they said I wasnt going to get unemployment was because I had not contacted them saying I was available for work .Now they are denying me just because I didn't call in and say that I was available. I have been searching for work every since My last day of work ! I looked for some work on their company website and a whole bunch of other places. I know another person who got laid off about the same time I did worked at the same place through the temp agency i work for ..and never called in to tell them that he was available for work and he still got his benefits ! I told him of my situation and he said he never once contacted them and that it wasnt fair that they are giving him unemployment but denying me unemployment. Also So stressful because I am also pregnant . Just dont know what to do anymore been looking for work over a month now . I dont think its fair for them to force their rules sometimes rather than doing it all the time to different people. I wonder if i will win my appeal.

Wish they wouldn't hire temps anymore so I can feel secure at my job instead of living on fear that I will be fired at any minute but other than that it's great being a lineman

I heard about a company that was hiring and the only way people are hired is through a temp service, which was fine. I went through the temp service and got one of the positions at this company. I went through training and because of my accuracy I was asked to be placed on a particular supervisor's team. Once I was out on the floor I was introduced to the people in my pod ...which is set up kind of quirky. The pods are setup in a C shape or U shape and everyone is facing the walls, so when you walk into the pod everyone's back is to you!! I was told that I would have to bring my production up since my accuracy was there, which was okay. I had just been on the floor a little over 30 days. A couple of days ago I asked my supervisor if we would be able to set up the function key for a certain process that's done when going into the next set of screens and she said not right now because she wanted to make sure I understood each step in the process , which again was fine. There is a number of steps that have to be followed sequentially in order to print the end report, which has nothing to do with the function key setup we previously discussed. I asked one of my pod mates if she knew how to set up that function key and she said it had been so long that she forgot the steps on how to do it. So during a meeting yesterday I saw the trainer that I had and asked her if she knew the sequence to set up the function key to print the report and she said she did not remember but she would look for it and send it to me in an email. Well today my supervisor has me go into a room with her and said that she was made aware that I asked the trainer to help me to set up the function key that she and I had talked about would not set up yet. I was polite and I advised her that that is not correct, and explained what I asked her about was the function key for printing the report, that's all. She said that it came to her like I was going behind her back or over her head to get the process function key that we had already discussed. I advised her again that was not what I asked the trainer for. Then she went on to talk about if I hear her when she comes in in the morning and says hello...I told her that yes I hear her when she comes in and I do speak when she comes in. She also wanted to know why I don't engage in the conversations going on in the pod at any given time and I explained to her that unlike the other people in the pod, I'm new and I'm required to get a certain amount of production out which being new I'm not at that top level yet like the rest of them so rather than take time away from getting that done, (which she will be asking me why I wasn't able to get it done if I don't get it done) instead I'll just do my work. Most of the time when they're talking I have no idea what they're talking about or who they're talking about because I haven't been there to know the people or the situations that they're referring to. Well to make a long story short when I left work today I immediately got a call from the temp agency and was told that I did not need to go back to the company tomorrow and the reason that they gave was that I was not a good fit!!! So to me it seems like 1) my integrity was being challenged 2) I was being accused of being anti sociable and 3)that I wasn't engaging enough!! Who is let-go for not socializing with people during work hours when production is a major deal on the job or for asking the "trainer" about setting up a function key, which she relayed the information back to the supervisor totally incorrect. Please help me understand what just happened!!!
