I have a question for everyone. I have had a few temporary job assignments over the past year. Should I add them to my resume; or not? I feel like I shouldn't because employers will wonder why. I have a part time job in the evenings; maybe I should just use them as a reference. I want to work two jobs; a full time job in the morning while keeping the part time job in the evening. Just tired of all the politics when dealing with temporary job services. I live in a small town in Ohio, where all of the jobs are connected with one temporary service or another. There are 6 of them I can think of off the top of my head. Thank you for your input.

I was let go in May of this year for an "unauthorized vacation" even though I showed the email requesting the time six months previous. I got hired by a temp agency right away (there is a lack of qualified people in my line of work) but I am not getting the hours now and and the temp agency has too high of a price for the company to buy me out. I have been found by a recruiter on "Zip" and she has told me that when you fill out the app do not lie about being fired just say will discuss at interview. I think that would be a great answer to a lot of these "trick questions" that are being posted.

I am working through a temp agency and have been on my current assignment since September 15th. I have made mistakes due to lack of training or the type of training I have received. If they choose to end this assignment would I qualify for unemployment benefits? I am in California. Any info would be helpful

I am an IT professional currently in the job market. I live in a northeast state which is a suburb of NYC. In my state, we have two big companies which regularly post 6-12 month contract positions with basically the same requirements. This positions will pop up once a month. One of the company is in the health product business and the other is in the communication business. Since I’ve been looking for employment since February, I’ve noticed a pattern which is, to say the least, very interesting: 1. The job requirements for each month are basically the same, give or take a few variations on the listed skill set. 2. On the first day of the posting, I will get 10-12 calls from different recruiters/agencies but all of them are the same nationality/country. 3. The calls originate from various out of the way states (Georgia, Missouri, Wisconsin, etc.). 4. All these calls are prior to receiving an email regarding the job. 5. All the callers insist on keeping you on the phone even if you tell them that you are driving or in a meeting. 6. They will call your home phone if you do not answer the initial call. 7. You eventually get an email afterwards with the job details and asking for a right to represent while offering 50%-75% of current market rate. 8. Only the next several days will I get an email THEN a call from US based recruiters regarding the same job posting offering prevailing market rates. I’ve noticed this pattern the first few months I was looking but didn’t want to post anything about it since I might get blacklisted by every IT placement firm. Now, I’m just about fed up and wish this would stop so I can concentrate on legitimate job offers.

Whether you have graduated, lost a job, switching careers, or have been out of work for some time, finding a job can be a challenge. I have found that doing temp work is a great resource to get back into work, especially if you have no experience or gaps in your resume. True, some people consider being a temp a waste of time, but here's a couple of tips to get the best results to finding a match for you.

1. Choose at least four fields of interest: There are tons of agencies out there, but each temp agency specializes in a specific industry. So write down four different options of fields of interest you would like to work in, whether it’s in healthcare, HR, accounting, business, or etc. You name it they have it!

2. Do your research on the agency: When you find agencies that fit what you want, please make sure you do your research. Check for reviews on the company to get an good idea what’s their placement rate, their process, and if they will be a advocate for you.

3. Know the agency process: Some agencies require for you to do a interview with each company you temp for; others you don’t. In general, you will have to make an appointment to meet with one of their staff and do an in person interview. Tip: Bring your resume and have an idea the amount you willing to get paid for an assignment.

4. Be upfront with your limitations! If you dealing with an agency, but you don’t have transportation, make them aware so that they will not send you to a job in the middle of nowhere.

Hope this helps someone out!

On April 20, 2016 I was offered a 90 day temp to hire position with a Company through a temporary service. On June 16, 2016 human resource requested that I complete their online job application form for the job. I completed and submitted the form on June 17, 2016. On July 06, 2016 the VP of the department and I agreed upon the terms and salary. On July 07,2016 human resource informed me to take the company physical examination. I took and passed their physical examination. On July 09, 2016 human resource informed me that I would start working with the company as soon as the contract expired with the Temporary service on July 20,2016. On July 13, 2016 the temporary service informed me that the Company canceled the contract due to I was too efficient for the job. The Company did not hire me for the position. The Company hired someone else for the same position on August 14, 2016. The Company hired someone that is much younger then me for the position. Is this Legal? Was this a verbal contract with the Company?
