I just submitted my application to my local pipefitters union, now I am waiting for a call. Merry Christmas everyone

Terminated after a year-and-a-half of employment for taking a bereavement day for my aunt which all in all is a great aunt but the Union contract does not state that it has to be a blood relative union says they are going to fight for me hoping I can get something out of that

What happens when nurses go on strike? If you get a job during the time that they are on strike are you kept as an employee afterward? How does the staff respond to you after the strike is over? I heard a certain hospital is going to have a strike.

I called hr due to the poor management and bullying at my work. My job is already pissed at me Bcs I'm being loud about the bullying. They want me to be quiet and I wont. Well they cut my hours bcs I have an heart condition despite them no being allowed to. Does chuck e cheese have a union? Can I be fired for calling hr?

As we continue to see Power lean towards corporate interests more and more workers are coming together to demand a voice on issues that affect their work lives. Working families today continue to struggle over issues around livable wages, healthcare, and affordable housing to name a few. Retirement is no longer a reality but a pipe dream. Politicians and corporations remain united to support the interest of the wealthy and continuing to ignore the pleas of everyday people demanding better work life conditions. Do you think bringing back the concept of unions into the american work life is a viable solution?

Shouldn’t there be a pay differential for training new employees? I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked to train or transition a new employee into the job through job shadowing or one on one job coaching. A new hire class just completed orientation this week and, you guessed it, I was elected to be one of the “chosen ones” to have a new employee assigned to shadow me all week. I don’t mind helping out but having someone looking over my shoulder all day then having to take time out after every call to review the transaction or check if they have any questions is extremely taxing on my energy. I heard a coworker mentioned the other day that back when this company was union back in the day they would offer pay differentials to employees that volunteered for new hire training support. It wasn’t much money, only something like an extra .25 cents per/hour but for a broke ass blue collar worker like me that little bit of change makes a huge difference. I never worked a union job before but are those type of employee incentives only available to union workers? Do you think I should ask HR or management about extra pay or a bonus for everyone on the call center floor supporting the new hires or am I living in a dream world I need to snap out of?

in march 2016 i was let go after 21 years.i had gone to hr about some concerns i had about peoples strange behavior. i was let go and they denied me unemployment. my union put me in touch with a free advocate for unemployment..after 2 days i won unemployment. the judge sent me a letter the next day saying you win, not 3 weeks. i then received my back money..so, i should of not checked take taxes out, i just changed it.. THE BEST THING I DID WAS, A. GET A GREAT RESUME. B. GO TO TEMP AGENCIES . THIS WAY I HAD A RECENT EMPLOYER BESIDES THE CREEPS AT MY LAST JOB THAT LIED AND LIED..I SPEND 8 HOURS A DAY SENDING OUT RESUMES..THE GOOD THING ABOUT AGENCIES IS THAT THEY ARE NOT FULL TIME JOBS.SO WHEN IT IS SLOW YOU CAN COLLECT. I WISH I COULD SUE MY JOB. NOW,.I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING STRANGE MESSAGES AT OTHER JOBS FROM MY LAST EMPLOYER. MY TEMP BOSS HAD TO GO TALK TO THIS PERSON TO TELL THEM TO CUT IT OUT, STOP DELIVERING THREATENING MESSAGES OR YOU ARE FIRED. MY LAST JOB WAS AT THE 21 NYC. I WAS A UNION BANQUET WAITER AND AS A LAST RESORT TO AN ON GOING SITUATION I WENT TO HR . WELL, SHE LIED RIGHT ALONG WITH THEM AND THE WHOLE THING HAS BIT THEM ON THE ASS. I STILL DO NOT HAVE A FULL TIME JOB..SO TO RECAP. TEMP AGENCY, A GREAT RESUME!, AND LOTS OF EMAILING AND READING ALL JOB POSTS. I HAVE BEEN APPLYING FOR WORK AT MSG IN NYC FOR MONTHS, AND I KNOW PEOPLE THERE. FINALL I SAW AN E MAIL FROM, WORK FORCE ONE, WHO HAS A CONNECTION THERE.SO PUT THE TIME IN. GOOD LUCK. DO NOT FORGET ABOUT FREE REPRESENTATION AT AN UNEMPLOYMENT HEARINGS.

As I have been saying for months, there is a HUGE difference between the headlines that say we are a nation at 'full employment' and the reality on the street.
Latest -case in point: goodnews/badnews in NYC. Good news: openings for apprentice in Plumbers Union in Queens. Bad news - over 1200 people camping out in the street for a shot at it.

I believe I am being denied 14 years of my pension which was part of my collective bargaining with a union, I am getting no help from my union is there some organization I can go to who specializes in these areas.
