I learned how much helping others gave me a sense of satisfaction, self worth, and happiness. Knowing that the funds I helped collect were going to people in need opened up a side of me that I didn't know was there. I wanted to do more. I participated in other charities through my workplace. Relay for life, the heart walk, and peer sponsored fundraisers that benefited co-workers in need. I look forward to participating in other fundraising opportunities.

The biggest mistake I made as a #Publicspeakingandstorytellingworkshopsfacilitator at #UnitedWay ...
When I first started I assumed that everyone liked being in front of people; huge mistake. Just because I do, doesn't mean everyone else does. I had to learn to calm their fears; mainly by letting them know that no one comes to hear you fail.

When the workshop participates spoke in public for the first time, often in front of City councils, police chiefs, State and government officials.

I never had that happen. I was inspired by inspiring people.

The work was meaningful and led to real changes in how we deal with addiction.
