When I worked in Ortho, it was almost impossible to leave work at the designated time. Emergency patients were always added on to the schedule and between getting patients an x-ray, applying casts, braces or dressings, we were always late. This not only upset patients but frustrated most of the staff.

When conflict with a coworker occurred, I simply asked her what was she so upset about. She stated her feelings about my leaving work early to take care of a family matter made her feel like I was "taking advantage of her." I pleaded my case and after promising to stay late for the rest of the week, problem was resolved.
