I had a choice to work 8 hrs or 12 hrs. Of course I worked 12 hrs.

So I just started a job. This past Tuesday. But do to one day having good poising and the next day having a personal emergency. The job site I was working call and canceled all temps that called in that day. And I have still yet to be paid. For the day I did work. I want to know is this legal. To lay me off since I did call in both times with the issues I stated? #unemployment

I stayed positive because I own both and I want to be successful. The area I'm in is hard and the jobs pay little to nothing when you think of the cost of living here. Most of the economy is casino based and the owners think they are doing you a favor paying 8 to 10 an hour so you make just enough to get back to work on Monday. After 3 years of dead end jobs and not making it I decided to start these businesses cause I wanted out and I tried to stay positive because I wanted a good name and I'm terrified to have to work in a casino again.

Would love to hear from Jobcasers across the country if they feel their employers are not following the rules?
One restaurant chain just paid out more than $2M for child labor violations in MA because 16 and 17 year olds were working past midnight or more than 48 hours in a week. The violations were caused in part by supervisors and young employees not being aware of the law. Below is a great site to check out for your local laws - https://www.youthrules.gov/law-library/state-laws/index.htm
Anyone have a story to share? Love to understand how frequently this happens?

So i was terminated from my position as shift manager at the local fast food here for a simple mistake and have tons of questions what to do. In the handbook it says that if a manager makes a mistake then they could be put on a probatiin period to help them with goals to help them succeed but i was not offered that. Plus before being terminated i was entitled to 5 days vacation pay but now they are stating that since i was terminated i am no longer entitled to that although i worked the full year for that vacation pay and now their not trying to give it to me and when i ask where in the handbook it stated this all they say is that it does not state it and its up to the owners discretion so what are handbooks for if they dont put these things in their???

Good job but pay is not making the cut. I can't live on $11.00. An hour and rent has gone from $930.00 TO $1100.00 PLUS my utilities and car payments and insurance. Taking public transit doesn't help because the scheduling does not work with work schedule nor does it run as much in my area. Is there a better way to solving this issue? I know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue. Thanks

I was hired part time and then my (personal) circumstances changed somewhat and I told my boss that I really needed to be full time (because I need the money and the benefits). So that was awhile ago and so far nothing has been said to me even though this company has hired several new people full time none of the positions have been offered to me. Are they trying to give me a message?

I have been at my current job for almost 5 years. While I enjoy my work, the pay and benefits are not great. I have an interview for a job doing the same job but would make $5-$6 more per hour BUT I have to go through a temp service first so it isn't guaranteed. What do I do?
