#workschedule holiday hours

As the holidays are approaching, I know a lot of us are focusing on our work schedule, making sure we have requested off, or have picked up extra hours to be able to make time and half on the holidays. I actually am scheduled to work on every holiday coming up being that I work in the hotel industry, I used to get upset about working on holidays when I was younger, but now I've accepted that it comes along with the industry. I try to make the best of the situation. What about you guys, what does your schedule look like for the holidays? #holidays #workschedule #sacrifices

I can't wait to read all the threads about this during the Holidays this year! I used to work almost every single Holiday, as I worked at Restaurants and in Venues that were open 365 days a year. But now, I'm pretty sure I could make some time to celebrate this year, I'm just not sure how much I will, since I'm used to working during those times and haven't been in a hurry to make a bunch of plans. 🎄

every time I go up up the ladder in my job and start to learn something there my hours get cut or I'm starting all over again then I see new people come in doing the same job I was doing

Are there multiple shift times and if so what are they and is there availability on the weekends as well?

Hours?

What happened to the 40 hr work week? I've been getting interviews and during the interview I'm told it's a 50 to 60 hr work week? Have these employers not heard of work life balance? Do they not realize employees are more productive with rest and breaks? After 8 hours mistakes and accidents are more likely. They state it's not management positions yet want to pay salary and calculating an hourly rate with the 60 hrs you're lucky to be making minimum wage. How is this even legal?

I have an interview next week for a cashier job with Travel Center America. Jobs are real scarce around here and they were the only company that followed up on my application despite my age and previous employment gaps on my resume. The position is listed for second shift which works well for me for most of the week but I have 2 days during the week where 3rd shift would be better so I can stay home with our kids while my husband works midday. Question is, should I bring this up during the interview or wait for a job offer first then come back to management with that request. My husband and I have been pondering on this for a while so I thought I would put the question out there for more feedback from experienced workers to help us figure out the best option for this possible job opportunity. Thank you.
