Well, I recently discovered this amazing opportunity and I really wanted to share it. Part of the reason this organization really interests me is because many years ago I worked as a senior protective aid and some of the circumstances the elderly population were subjected to were just heartbreaking. Many of them lived alone and had no family or close friends to visit with or to help them with simple daily tasks. They were lonely and felt forgotten.
One of my last clients was an 82-year-old blind man who's wife of 52 years had recently passed away. He had a nurse that would come into his home twice a week but there were many things that he could have been doing had he just had someone there for him. This man had lived with his wife in the same house for 52 years! Being blind, he wasn't able to clean, do his laundry, shop for groceries or even read a book or a newspaper. I can't tell you how much my relationship with him enriched my life. From taking him on errands & appointments, cleaning his home or chatting in the garden my days were fulfilling & heartwarming. 🥹
