An open interview is a chance to meet with a hiring manager without having to go through a formal screening and selection process prior to being chosen for an interview. However, you may have to wait to meet with an interviewer, and there may be other candidates interviewing for the same job you are. Believe it or not, based off the industry, you are still able to score open interviews by walking into establishments and asking to speak with the supervisor or manager on duty to inquire about interviewing for a specific position. Not all positions require you to go online and fill out a job application. Some industries that you may still be able to walk into is the restaurant industry, the hotel industry, and or the retail industry! #Openinterviews #Walkin #Advise #jobsearch #interview

I'm a warehouse associate at the moment for Bimbo Bakeries USA in Medley, Florida. But I've been working through Randstad work agency. I was promised a permanent position and a $2.60 raise. Now there stating that the night shift is the only permanent position is open. I tried the night shift for a couple days and I hated it. What should I do? #ADVISE

I'm telling you the truth...(Message For You)

Sometimes we stay at the grill of life too long, flip flopping those pancakes, so-to-speak. Are they golden brown enough?

If not, why do continue cooking them?

In a like manner, we stay on the computer too long, wasting time by flipping and flopping emails.

In order to get a job you have to step away from the grill of life, and do the more important things such as...

  • Prepare a suitable resume set.
  • Prepare your cover letter set.
  • Identify four matched job types.
  • Proof read your work for errors.
  • Hit the ENTER button and submit.
  • Check your emails for responses.

Don't flip flop with miscellaneous things, just take action accordingly, then, everything else will fall-in-place.

I Believe You Can...!

July 20, 2020 A Day in my Shoes!
My day started at 5:00 AM waking up and preparing for a busy schedule. 5:10 AM Coffee Made and check my messages to see if any surprises arise? First cup of coffee and shower time. Check my email to see where I am needed for the event. Call's to be made, pick up staff and make sure Essential Black Live Worker’s Event is going smoothly? Leave the house at 6:15 AM. Heading to pick up the first person my union organizer Lisa, she tells me she is running late. Skip her house and go to the second house. Arlene my Co-Delegate.6:40 AM arrived and she tells me Cathy can’t get the day off. I tell her not to worry and head to Marcus’s house. Arlene on the way tells me he isn’t answering the phone. I call still no answer. Guess we have to cover his spot? Arrive at his house to pick him up, it’s 7:05 AM. Lisa call’s asking where are we? I tell her on our way to her house. By the way it starts to pouring rain. #1199 #Work #Union #BLM #BlackLifeMatters

Hello All, I would like to revise my current resume to include most if not all nine temporary positions held from 2 months to 21 months. Should I not mention my 2 mos. 2x of loading delivery trucks, because that is not my forte? Ever since 2015 lay off of a decade of working for same employer in administrative, office assistant and customer service, then and thereafter, most of the temporary positions were interesting and gainful experience. I just want it all perfectly on one page. I am seeking ideas. Please help me. I thank you in advance. Like you, I am striving to do better. You have my best wishes.

One area I would encourage young people who are still in high school or just graduated. Find yourself an internship dedicated to high schoolers or recent grads. It will give you experience and give you an opportunity to discover if you want a job in that chosen industry or not before you plop down a lot of time and money in education.

It does work. I have a good friend. She got a internship at a navy shipyard who does maintenance for most of the ships in the US fleet on the west coast while she was still in high school. She discovered she had the knack for electrical work. After high school she then applied to the apprentice program for this shipyard. Thanks to her internship. It give her a leg up in the hiring process.

Even now these many years later. She is still working for the yard. Now for a major contractor for the shipyard. Still loving her job, and what she is doing.

There are many opportunities like this if you nose around. Both in the public and private sectors. It may lead to a job out of high school or at the very least point you in the right direction. Or even get yourself a good mentor you can guide you in your professional development.

I myself wished I had gone this direction.

Good luck!

Small business ownership is hard. Applying for a regular job for an employer after 10 years of being my own boss is harder. They want more experience that I can't prove. This is really hard! Any advise???
