Go back to school. You could get a Pell Grant. I did that and graduated in Acounting. I went to Old Dominion University then and now I am working on my Masters degree in Counseling. Doors open and age is only a number.

I want to take a big leap of faith!!
I'm thinking about GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. I want to get a degree in business so that I can start my own salon someday. 💵
The problem is, I'm no spring chicken. Do you think it'll be worth it??

Never to old to do what you want better to have went for it than to have regrets.

I was living in New York and moved to Florida two years ago. I was working for a hospital that we did drug screening. I was working for over 10 years earned a good salary and could do my job with my eyes closed. We decided to move to Florida because the schools are much easier. The cost of living in New York is very expensive. Anyway, we moved to Florida in 2016 and we struggled and struggled. I decided to go back to school in 2017 to get a certificate in billing and coding. Now I’m having problems with financial aid pell grant. I have to get an amend letter from 2016 which I don’t have because H and R block messed up my taxes. So now school is on hold. Problem is my husband is by my side and is saying that he’s willing to pay with my mom's help for the school that cost over $700 for two online classes which doesn’t include books. He doesn’t understand that we are still struggling and I’m trying to pay off the hole that he put me in. I already told him I’m going to find a job no matter how hard it’s going to take me. He said ok. Problem is that now he wants to invest $250.00 for some stock and I don’t agree with it because I’m trying to pay off a credit card and a cell bill that if I don’t pay it by a certain day next month, I will be put in collections. We got into an argument because he wanted to invest the stock for us in the future. Then he had to call up my mother to complain about it. Mind you folks we are both 47 years old. He’s upset and is being a real asshole. I spoke to my mom and she understands what I am talking about. You see my husband puts me in such a hole financially and I’m trying to get out of that hole so we can be better next year and we can move into another place because the apt where we been living is going to go up in rent once you renew you lease. We are paying $1,576 a month in Florida and it’s not the greatest. I told my husband go ahead and invest. He started being nasty to me. I just walked away and now we are not speaking. He’s an asshole because I feel that hes throwing a temper tantrum from stupid crap and when things are real bad, he starts packing his clothes. You can not run away from your problems. We need to sit down and discuss them. He doesn’t even want to talk about it. I’m trying my best to find a job. It’s not easy. Please give me some good advice. Thank you

I started working for Toys R Us practically right out of high school and it's the only job I have had other than some part-time landscaping work with my bother in law. I am thinking now with the closing I should go to college. It's time to get my ass in gear! I have some money saved, but it might be tough without a job. I want to go full time. What do you guys think? Is college even worth it these days? I miss my co-worker, Sandy, she always gave the best advice.

Great morning to you all! I hope your week was fantaboulous! I know many of you are very and too frustrated with job searching but just understand a job will be obtained. Just have faith! Attending school to receive my bachelor's and master's degree has kept me working ( human services) so my advice to any one seeking employment is to go for a career at some point and not just a job( when you have a job)! Now is the time to work with kids( psychology, therapist etc.. ) because the way things have changed as far as the values that children are now being raised to have has truly gone down hill( dcfs, snitches, no more spankings). Please go to school within a field that will keep you working and helping others!

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I have recently graduated from college back in December 2016 with a bachelors degree in business management. I have landed a management position granted it's a lower management position but it's still a management position. My question is should I go to graduate school for a masters in accounting or finance ? I just have this urge to go back I just want some input before I decide. I started my education a little on the late side but I'd like some input from people especially people who went to graduate school.

I'm going back to school because I want to. I will not bow down and work for a company like; McDonalds, or any place with the same ethics, because I now realize one thing.
It's all about resisting the temptation to do the things you love in life. Now I know; In my heart. What is true.
Myself.

I'm living in Memphis, Tn and I am a 37 year old security officer. I'm about to get married on the 15th and I want to be able to give my wife more than I am now. I am going to try to get back in to school soon. I have been looking for a new job and I know I have put in app or sent my resume to over 50 plus companies. I just want a chance to do something new. What am I doing wrong?

i have disability i had two heart attacks the last heart attack i was died 45 mins and other medical issues at 40 yrs old i will be 49 this year im going back to school to be a graphic designer im on my last yearof school i been looking for work but dont want to jump in start working over time plus im having trouble finding work period because i been out of work so long
No. Watch / Google Tabitha. She’s the blonde who overhauls sinking salons.
You don’t need a business degree to open a salon: you need to be passionate about hair and style. Know your craft and hire people with degrees.
A hair salon, especially in today’s market with covid, will not pay off the school debt. You’ll get stressed out and end up in a field you’re not passionate about…like an entry level customer service credit card reporting job.
Go in the field you love. The money comes to those who do what the love.
So, open the salon by renting space in someone else’s salon; build your client base; ask to learn the business side of running a salon on your days off.
That’s the path of least resistance; optimal happiness; and fiscal responsibility.
Best of luck.
