It would appear that employers (90%my experience) see "career gaps" as # 1. Then, they decide your previous skills, abilities and experience are not enough; successful professional= 0 pts., 15+ years= 0 pts., promotions= 0 pts and you have been awarded no pts. Seriously, I didn't gap how work.
Regardless, I interpret this ignorance as a form/sub of "blacklisting." IF I make it far enough to receive a phone call, it takes one gap-question to quickly become a CLM (Career Limiting Move).
My reasons are personal, apply to women, and very private. My "Gap Summary" must not be frank enough and does not stop employers from asking. One recruiter actually told me she couldn't submit my resume unless she was able to give her boss a "good explanation." It was cringe-worthy as I explained. Awkward!!
It would be helpful to hear more on this topic as it applies to the "B" word. #blacklist

What is a do-not-rehire list (or #blacklist)?
Many employers use a do-not-rehire list to flag job applicants to human resources, hiring managers, and recruiters. The do-not-rehire list prevents these former employees from being rehired at the company.
Why do people get blacklisted? One reason is failing to give two weeks notice when resigning can land you on a blacklist. Some employers are 'strict' about having at least a full 14 days notice; and giving them 13 days may result in your name being added to their do-not-rehire list.

Is it possible to be blacklisted from recruiting companies and what are the reasons if so?

Tonya,
Companies are not allowed to say that you were terminated, or why. All they are allowed to say is hire date/salary, end date/salary, title start/end. Sometimes they are allowed to say something about the type of work you did, but not how well/poor it was performed..That is called "Black Listing, or Black Balling"", which are illegal and she could sue, if proven.
IMHO Luis

I was let go from another job on 11/8/2016.I have applied for more than 100 jobs.Been on 6 interviews and have not gotten a job offer..I then get a call from one of the Employers I interview who advised that they really don't give call backs but wanted to give some input on my interview. As she was talking I was crying not knowing what I was doing wrong which end up been nothing was told I didn't get the job because my old job I had been on gave me a bad reference and what ever I had going on with them I needed to take care of because it will stop me from getting jobs.I thank her which she didn't have to call me and say anything. When I notified my old job to see what I had did wrong since I was not let go I had a injury that had put me out of work and bed beyond for a year. I talked to my HR partner who advised me that during the time I was off they had over paid me and it need to be pay back so I then asked if that was all why couldn't someone contact me and let me know..How would I have found out if no notice sent..Asked if they could send me an email with information was advised that I would get a notice and when did the first notice go out she then tells me they just found it and it was aimed out to me a week ago but by the way even if you pay it doesn't mean that we would change are code when ask why since I didn't know anything about it she then goes on to say you also have others asked what it was she then said she was not able to tell me.I have found out that they are black balling me because when they denied me for my long term disability case I filed unemployment and won against them and I got any attorney to sue for my long term case and they didn't like that..How can a job stop you from moving on with another company for no reason

Why is it that prospective employers don't weigh experience and length of employment history ? They contact former employers who basically have the power to defame your name with untrue information that can't be validated or verified especially if you can prove them to be liars with black and white if ever given a chance. There isn't nearly enough penalities against companies for this type of behavior. I'm considering going public to the news media and expose not only the company but what they have been doing to ruin my life out of retaliation. I have legal counsel but I'm not 100% confident the outcome will be what it should and what I am rightfully entitled to. Nobody is suffering or going through this turmoil but I. Should I contact the news and take this publicly ?

Can someone be permanently blacklisted for failing a drug test? Is that even legal? I failed a drug test for a good job back in February this year. Yeah, I admit I was using a little marijuana back then but I haven't touched any drugs or alcohol since then, not even a beer! Circumstances in my life have changed dramatically since my father died so I've been trying to get my life in order. Problem is that all the jobs I'm applying for now tell me that I don't qualify because of the drug test. Is there a national blacklist my name got added to because I previously failed a drug test? How can I get my name off the list?
I think people are worried that they are being blacklisted despite their credentials and experiences. It's like your opportunities is being blocked? But I agree with you to focus on resilience for the employers who can overlook that.
