“Ask yourself, ’Who am I? What do I want? What is my deepest desire? What is my purpose? What are my skills? What am I grateful for?”

What is a do-not-rehire list (or #blacklist)?

Many employers use a do-not-rehire list to flag job applicants to human resources, hiring managers, and recruiters. The do-not-rehire list prevents these former employees from being rehired at the company.

Why do people get blacklisted? One reason is failing to give two weeks notice when resigning can land you on a blacklist. Some employers are 'strict' about having at least a full 14 days notice; and giving them 13 days may result in your name being added to their do-not-rehire list.

Learn more about the do-not-rehire list, including strategies to find out if you are blacklisted. #jobsearch #nextjob

#Interviews should never be a one-way conversation. Ask yourself, is this a place I want to work at? You should feel empowered to guide the conversation and ask questions during the interview.

The first question I always ask is: What are your expectations for the person who is hired?

This key question will create a clear picture of what to expect from the job day to day - and if you really want to work there. Here are the top 20 questions to ask during an interview.

Did you know you can endorse Jobcase users with a Praise? You can go to a user’s profile, click the “Praise” button, then shout out a friend or Jobcaser.

Why is this valuable? Getting a “Praise” is an endorsement you can use to get your next job. Your Jobcase profile can be a link you send to prospective employers 🤔

So how can you “Praise” someone at Jobcase??

  • An outstanding achievement. If there was a significant assignment that you were a part of that you’d like to showcase to future employers, ask a colleague or manager to include some highlights of the work you contributed in their praise.

  • A skill you developed. Many times, we learn and develop new skills at work. Suppose you have a specific area of expertise or talent that you acquired during your time at a job. In that case, you can ask the individual to emphasize its importance on your overall performance.

  • Soft skills you excel with. Soft skills, also known as transferable skills are naturally learned traits that are typically non-job specific and can be used across any profession. They include things like leadership, communication, empathy, and time management. These skills can be challenging to highlight on a resume, so praises can be beneficial when conveying your impressive abilities!

Now go forth and Praise someone that deserves it! #connections #Praise #NextJob

No experience? No problem. One way to overcome a lack of experience is to get trained and build your skill set! Identify educational programs or courses that are reputable, respected, and most importantly offer skills that translate into real-life situations.

Online courses, such as such as Coursera and lynda.com, are great ways to learn something brand new or even brush up on your skillset.
