I went to orientation for this job at the airport I started the hiring process back in September! I didn’t hear from nobody until the end of October he called me one morning in a sunday Rushing and asking me to come in I explained to him why I couldn’t at the time I didn’t have a babysitter. So a week went by and he calls me asking me about why I hadn’t been there and that I had been absent for 3 days which no one told me to come in I declined the job because I sat there and wait ones for a month and there’s was a lack of communication, what would y’all have done ?

Came across this article today and had a little chuckle, turns out millennials are having a hard time adjusting to no longer being the tastemakers in their office. As a proud GenXer I guess I'm too cynical to have cared to be considered "uncool" by my younger colleagues. Besides I have a teen daughter who relishes each opportunity to declare how "uncool" I am.

Does anyone remember what it was like to head to work one day and realize that you're the old person at work now?

I have been out of work since April of this year. I had quite a few interviews, a couple of which I was told I had the job, only thing that needed to be done was a background and reference check. I thought it was all good because my background check would come back with nothing on it. I actually was set to sign a teaching contract the next day, but (and this completely gutted me) about an hour later after talking with a reference, I was no longer being considered for the position. This lady who I worked with for years completely sabotaged me. Apparently she relayed things to the principal that made ne unsuitable for the position. I have since learned that other employers that called her were also given a bunch of lies. My level of anger is high and have been thinking of filing a defamation suite, but in the end I learned watch whom you use as a reference.

Went to an interview yesterday which went well. I was told I would be going to orientation today, so I figured I had the job in the bag, only to get to which I thought was orientation, to be interviewed again by two other people. I was also told that I would here something back by the end of the work day today, and surprisingly I have heard nothing. Soooooo disappointing, when l thought I had the job. Not giving up though, I know something will come through for me. Keeping the faith!!!! #interview #hired #advice

Now days employers want the most for the least amount of expense. Per say I have 9 years inventory exp., purchasing etc etc, I know how to work with different inventory control systems, operate machinery, work in medical, retail or food. I know I'm worth 25.00-29.00 an hour, but employers only want to offer minimum wage and want all the experience but I'm passed along when they see what I want. Employers are not out there to benefit you. They're here to offer you what they want if you don't take it someone else will take it for even less. Just like position titles are changing and getting fancy but yet the pay is nowhere near the title. Give the employer what they want pass your probationary period and stick with it til you find something better or slow down, they can't fire you as long as you don't impede money being made.

Recently, I rejected a job offer because the company's values and brand did not align with my values and lacked opportunities to excel in my career. Professional growth was not highlighted or emphasized and the company reviews were mediocre. BUT...the income was great!

Was this bad decision? I don't feel so...what are your opinions? Suggestions?

You are in control of your own personal growth not a job. When comes to values. Does every person in your like share your values currently? If getting a job and paying bills is the objective, take the job. If your job duties is not directly relate to the values you oppose, than you are good. Think about all the companies that you do business with daily. Do they share your same values? Are you going to stop eating? We don't like our leaders but we are moving to another country. Pray on it.

#WorkerShortage???? Don't believe the media pretending there are tons of jobs...it's a facade.

Applying for 50+ jobs without as much as a email response? I have an associate's degree in business administration and a bachelor's s degree too, and have had retail marketing job for 10 years lost during the height of COVID. Why are the media outlets pushing this false narrative that there's so many jobs you can start working tomorrow or even today? It's simply not true I've been trying for a long time now, and It's horrible being told over and over when the reality is no one is hiring and the applications ask way too much out of people we should be asking more out of employers not the other way around. #wordsofadvice

The reason for the big gap in my resume is that I worked at MBNA and they were bought out. They didn’t keep on most employees who had been 15 years plus. Also, my mother took to a serious illness and needed my my family needed my assistance. Unfortunately she last 6 mos and passed away. Then my daughter had her first child and I started babysitting. Be quite honest I still babysit for my 3 grandchildren. I hope this clears up the reason for the gap.

I have a question about salary/wages and tenure. I noticed that quite a few employers are now starting their new employees out at over $20/hr. Is that fair to the other employees who have been there longer and are now making the same pay as a new hire? How is this correctable if at all? I couldn't find the right place to post this and haven't seen a similar post. Polite feedback welcome. #officelife #wage #salary #tenure
