I have been at Chili's for almost 5 years now and the reason that I have stayed there for so long is because we are one big family.

I haven't really made any major mistakes since I started almost eight years ago. I guess my only mistake would be not furthering my career sooner.

"Stressful" and "Typical" are interchangeable words when it comes to working at Chili's as a closing dishwasher. Right after you clock in, you (I stress "YOU" since during the weekday, you get to do this alone; even though it is just as busy as on a weekend, if not more so) will have to begin by washing the entire morning and afternoon's worth of dishes and cookware, since they pull the morning dishwasher off to go do prep work. After the morning/afternoon dishes are done, then you get to wash the entire day's prep cookware, since the morning dishwasher generally gets to go home before they have to do much washing. Of course, the closing dishwasher still has to contend with a very busy restaurant of dinner dishes and cookware. Add to that, a staff of servers who all act they are three-year-old toddlers -- throwing garbage on the floor, silverware on the floor, inability to properly stack dishes, and then whining like dogs at a fireworks show when you call them out on it. Add to this the defective equipment that you get to use. A dishwashing machine that jams the dish racks on a consistent basis. Clogged drains that never get looked at. Inadequate materials to scrub plates, pots, etc. Yet, Chili's somehow manages to find tens of thousands of dollars to renovate the front of house with.

This company has been -- by far -- the WORST experience I have ever had in the workforce. And I have been in the workforce longer than some of you out there have been alive.

The ONLY positive I can find is that during those rare times I can eat (Never sitting down, mind you. If you do, you will get too far behind to ever catch up. Chili's does NOT assign anyone to help you if you go eat), the cooks will make something for you off-menu if they have the ingredients.

Only accept a job there if you are desperate for money. And even then, start looking for a REAL company to work for the moment you get in.
