I’ve been with a company for 4 1/2 years as a manager. I’ve been harassed most of my time working there. I’ve had false complaints made about me. I’ve worked in a hostile work environment. So I made a complaint to hr. After that my dr took me off work for a medical condition. They day I come back they put me on paid leave to conduct the investigation. And then I’m told I’m being terminated. How is this possible? If I didn’t complain and never went on medical leave I’d still have a job. What do I do now?

I took a job at an optometrist office a couple years ago and was the only male employee. I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn some new skills and I enjoy working with the public overall. Within two months it turned into a nightmare. One of the girls Facebook stalked me and found out that I had several gay friends and that one is HIV+. She proceeded to tell everyone in the office that I was gay and I myself was HIV+, neither of which is true. I went to the business manager and the doctor to file a formal complaint which fell on deaf ears, she was not disciplined nor fired. After another few weeks of basically being ignored and treated like I didn’t exist I quit.

Just curious about if anyone else has dealt with this scenario?

So, yes, as bad as it sounds, this actually happened. I was employed a little over a month for a hotel, (privately owned), where the working conditions were not great by any means, but I was getting more than my share of hours so I wasn't gong to complain. A little insight, I would arrive for my shift 7:30am and work straight through until 7pm most days, no breaks, no days off, no joke. On top of this, although I had completed all necessary paperwork, i.e. W4, W2, etc. I was being kept off the books. Mind you, I have no problem being paid in cash (TEMPORARILY!), but the owner & manager were being crooked, and not paying me in full for my 80+ weekly hours, and incorrectly (no overtime or time-and-a-half). The management would basically ignore my requests for a "sit down" to discuss this matter. Still, I continue to work hard as ever to show my determination and value as an employee. Now, it is late on a Saturday evening, and I am approached by a fellow coworker, an older Indian man, who barely speaks English. He proceeds to take his hand and drag it slowly across my breasts. I stepped back in shock, and realizing I am completely alone, as everyone else has left for the day hours prior. This man then takes his hand to go in for a second grab, where I promptly slapped it away. Now I'm terrified that what if he becomes violent, and began counting the minutes for him to leave. I quickly closed up and left for the day, and immediately sent a personal message to management. Thinking I would receive a reply right away, it was to my dismay that after 9 days I was left neglected and on my own to protect myself. I was paid 2 more visits of stalking and leering and personal space invaded by this creep. Upon me finally forcing a meeting with the manager, a woman, I might add, she screamed at me, (refusing to close the door and allowing all other personnel to hear), she berated me, said I was disrespectful, and said I was probably exaggerating, and then threatened to terminate me. She then proceeded to suspend me for 2 days until she decided what to do with me, since I never gave her enough of an opportunity to speak with me about the situation,(NINE DAYS HAD PASSED!!). To add insult to injury, on the third day she approaches me informing me she had spoke with the handsy offender and he said he was "only being friendly". And that because this is now an uncomfortable situation that I am being terminated of employment because I am, and I quote, "a red flag". This happened 2019 in the state of Massachusetts, in the great U.S. of A. I was treated shamefully, and blamed for unwanted advances. Oh! They also found it necessary to withhold $700+ from my hard earned pay, and gave me an envelope of only $600. Shame on me for speaking up, and btw, I was not the only woman he had done this to, he had fondled another young lady, and then attempted to strike another female employee with a closed fist TWICE.

It would not be worth your time at this time. While I worked at Shop Rite I was harassed continuously by an old black man that worked there for years after I reported his sleazy self to management they covered up for him and enabled him to screw with me. I was them retaliated against by all members of management being written up numerous times, being verbally disrespected to my face and behind my back, I had my hours cut, they switched my shift and refused to give me my original shift back then they finally fired me. I reported them to CHRO and the real investigation begins, I am going to clean up the store so that future employees will have a fair and equal employment opportunity free from harassment, retaliation, and favoritism.

DO NOT DO IT!! We were treated like we were indentured slaves, and talked down to like we were the dumbest creatures on Earth. Thinking about a promotion or advancement was quickly discouraged. There were FOUR people that I trusted - one Location Manager, one Lot Manager, one Lead Driver, and one lady that worked in the office. We had to ASK to take our breaks and our Meal Break. There was ONE bathroom for 20 women and men to use. We were "clocked" on how long it took us to get a vehicle from the service lot to the airport lot, and getting a returned car back to the service lot. This led to speeding and other unsafe driving that resulted in at least two accidents. If there wasn't a specific vehicle at the Airport, the Sales Agents blamed us for not knowing what they needed for reservations. I was a 60 year old openly Gay man, but I was called FAG (and much worse) in English and Spanish numerous times. I was falsely accused of: damaging vehicles twice, of lying to a Manager, accused three times of calling a Manager-In-Training a CT, a BH , and a W**E, accused of stealing company property and customer items that had been left in a vehicle, told to cover up a tattoo on my upper arm when others with tattoos were not, told I could not wear an earring when other men wore multiple earrings, told to do something other than my job and the person that told me denied doing it, and always was the person that was told to stay late because "you don't have a family to get home to". We were given 20 days notice that our jobs were being Contracted out, and that we had to apply and be interviewed for our jobs by the contractor, who didn't hire a single one of us. We got no severance or separation pay, and when I sued for harassment, discrimination and wrongful termination and won, Hertz insisted on paying the settlement directly to me instead of through the Court or my attorney, and took out taxes even though I had not worked for them in three years. Managers were told NOT to give any recommendations or letters of reference, and all employment verification calls were referred to Corporate, who (if they ever answered), gave answers that would ensure we wouldn't get hired anywhere, even doing the identical job for another rental car company. If Hertz was the only option for a rental car, I would rather walk on my lips!

Hi everyone, I want talk about a situation that happened to me at work. I work as a banquet server at hotel. I was sexual harrassed by two male cooks. They said a sexual comment towards me which obviously made me feel uncomfortable. They cook is old man been there for 22 years. I went to GM who took situation serious along with the manager. He did not get fired or written up. I believe those situations are zero tolerence, but did not happen Since then I been uncomfortable but hiding it so I can continue to work. Today the old man said something agian behind my back when I left the kitchen after a conversation. I couldnt hear what he said, but It was sexual. What are your thoughts I like to know? I want to quit. Thanks.

I was working for the same company for six years, worked my way from the bottem to haveing my own store. In a matter of 3 weeks i was accused for either saying or touching someone in an improperly way which i never did. I was fired & was only told sorry they said it so we have to let you go. Im 50yrs. old & a little 16 to 18 yr old girl can kill a man & his job in just saying it happened. I think its a load of crap that all they have to do is say it happend & we are guilty no matter what.

During last 2 interviews I was hit on and was hired but declined job because was told was getting position due to my "looks and posture". Can or do I report this? If so how n where?

It comes down to a single person in my life that wishes to steal everything from me. I get elected to the presidency and what does my brother inlaw do, He outfits my home with hidden cameras and posts them. Violates every right I have. I call upon the collective to step in. For he refuses to talk with me, So I will take it to the Macro, Of the Collective. Because if I cant have Privacy, No one can it would seem.
