I’m excited to announce that I am OFFICIALLY starting a contract to perm job tomorrow. I am even more excited that I will be given the top rate of $31/hr. It’s a little less than I was making before but I am so blessed to have a job. I still have a few pending/potential offers, but unless it’s a perm position making more money, I think I’m cool.

Update: Took a job shortly after this making about $43/hr

Thank you all for your support and kind words. I will keep you posted about any job changes.

My wife recently lost her job as a home care physical therapist. She's always been "staff", with a salary and guaranteed hours. But most of that world is "per diem", where you're paid per visit. She's probably going to make the switch based on what's available.

Any per diem PTs out there able to share what the going rate is? Much like salary this is something that's negotiated per person and we don't want her lowballing her expectations because she doesn't know what to ask for. She's got 20 years experience, for what it's worth. And we're in Massachusetts. Thanks!

I've work for this company going on 2 years. I love working in this industry. I put my sweat and tears making sure the family and friends are fine, every and anything the company or family needs I do. I just got a raise a month ago, I didn't know it because my check was still the same. I'm a single parent of three but I am worth to them $.25. What can I do with that? I'm doing what GOD wanted me to do but really. But when a new individual comes alone, she gets baby, she don't do what I do no matter how I teach her, she does what she want to do. I LOVE THIS FIELD. I might need to go elsewhere, so I know I would be appreciated. Thank you guys for reading. Im going through but by the GRACE OF GOD I can make it. Be bless.

Hey All, I was making $16/hr at a law firm when I was 22. Here we are 15 years later and business are still offering $14-$15/hr for the same thing I have been doing. I'm mid-30's now and it seems I'm over qualified for many Administrative positions and underqualified by 2 or 3 pieces of knowledge for $50-60K positions. I do not understand what is going on the atmosphere right now but there's definitely something. Bottom line is no one can live off of $14/hr with a rent/car/kids/pets and as many of you have said many companies are not even offering insurance. Not many people can even qualify for 3x rent at many apartment communities in which living takes most of our paychecks. This is an absolute crisis!!!
