First, my view is based only on personal experience. Amentum is part of AECOM, one of the largest engineering corporations in the world. Unfortunately, Amentum is also one of the most corrupt companies I've ever seen.

Last year, an employee almost died performing a dangerous act, against the advice of technical experts. When employees tried to address the manager, he brushed it off and made no changes. Multiple managers have a history of negligence, racism, sexism, and government fraud.

I made statements about the work conditions and they claimed to have resolved the issues. Yet, the company did nothing about the manager I complained about. A few weeks later, I was rushed to another location but needed to handle personal business and had to stay a little late because my wife thought she was sick with COVID19.

Instead of allowing me to return, they fired me for "non-essential travel during the pandemic." Yet, there have never been "non-essential travel" laws, just guidelines. The real reason they fired me was retaliation for complaining.

Never work with such a petty company. Lesson learned. I thought that this was an isolated event but it seems to be common within the greater AECOM corporation. No attorney would take my case because they didn't understand how to handle the case, considering the ambiguous nature of the event.

What would you have done about it?
