@Bill Branstetter Hello Bill, the most useful tip I found was the advice about Applicant Tracking System resumes, I’ve been spreading this like a wild fire to assist others as this had a huge positive impact on my own job hunt.

Stellar Guest Services Advocate

@Bill Branstetter, the tips I've learned about how to revamp my resumes as an older worker have been really helpful and I have passed that information on to others within the Aged to Succeed group. Tips such as refining my skill set for each job and not including 30 years worth of customer service experience has helped to not age my resume. Also understanding that soft skills are considered super transferable and are of interest to recruiters.

Federal Transportation Agency Finalizes New Marijuana Testing Policies to Reduce False Positives

Looks like we are one step closer to eliminating marijuana testing for truck drivers. As a marijuana advocate myself this is great news! Although I stopped smoking marijuana when I got my CDL, I 110% support the marijuana advocates fighting to eliminate this DOT policy.

According to this article the federal register is moving forward to allow oral saliva drug testing instead of urine testing. Advocates and experts view urine tests as problematic in part because THC metabolites can show up for weeks or months after consumption—resulting in false positive results for people who are not actually impaired on the job. Saliva testing apparently only shows up in between 1-24 hours after use.

Marijuana testing is contributing to the trucker shortage because tens of thousands of truck drivers have tested positive for marijuana use and have declined to return to work. Federal agencies such as the ATF and the Secret Service have updated their employment policies that once automatically disqualified candidates. A top Wells Fargo analyst has also stated that rising costs and labor shortages are caused by marijuana testing.

Do you support the elimination of marijuana testing? Do you support saliva testing?

Truck Drivers with a disability. This is an amazing story of a truck driver that is an amputee. 🚛

This story also amazes me because as a truck driver myself, I had to pass a physical in order to get my CDL.

I will have to research this topic some more and post about it because there are certain health issues that will disqualify you like being a diabetic.

*** Protect Your Driving Privileges***

From my own personal experience as a Commercial Driver I see truck drivers getting pulled over every day by the California Highway Patrol. There are a variety of reasons why, and the most common reason is speeding. What might seem like a minor infraction can actually be a little more serious and possibly the kiss of death for a CDL holder.

The CA Vehicle Code (CVC) Section 22406.1 Speed Laws states, “A person who operates a commercial motor vehicle upon a highway at a speed exceeding a posted speed limit established under this code by 15 miles per hour or more, is guilty of a misdemeanor.”

Another offense that carries hefty fines and penalties is California Vehicle Code Section 35551(a) VC, having an overweight vehicle is a criminal offense that can carry significant penalties. According to Vehicle Code § 42030(a), the fines start out small. For up to 1,000 pounds over the weight limit for a single axle, the fine is as low as $20 before fees are added. A fine for a typical overweight truck can range from five hundred ($500) to the thousand dollars.

Whether a commercial driver neglects or is completely blind to these laws, the driver must seek legal representation and not make attempt to fight these allegations by representing themselves. Commercial drivers cannot go to traffic school to eliminate any points like a regular Class C drivers license holder. Having legal representation can save your career and reduce to misdemeanor to an infraction. Commercial drivers are held to higher standards so it’s imperative to protect these driving privileges.

I’m fortunate enough to work for a company that offers legal assistance for $30 a week in the event something happens. Not all companies offer this service, but if you happen to get a traffic ticket seek legal assistance. ⚖️

I've always used it as helpful information as a person hiring - everything is subjective - images affect our response, reaction, and relating towards and about individuals - maybe just subconsciously. I'm always interested in the views of those doing the hiring because I expect them to be very biased.

Working with photography always takes time. I was helped by the tips from https://skylum.com/blog/how-long-do-photographers-take-to-edit-photos on quickly processing photos. Thanks to them, I got more clients, as the processing speed increased.
