I wanted to know if any one has had experience with obtaining a Medical Coding/Decoding and Medical Billing Specialist Certificate ? I have not worked out side of the home for several years and started looking for a job in March. I have seen some advertisements for this certificate and planned on taking classes in the Fall. Any information that anyone may would greatly appreciated.

I hope this does nt come across like I am selling something but by reading some of you guys posts, it take me back to my past and how I changed my circumstances. I was working for a company in their Human Resources department and could barely make ends meet. I knew I had to make a change. I began looking for jobs in the medical field (outsourced) and met someone whom was also working at home in Transcription. This lady didn't have to help me but she was a God send an angel on my shoulder. After training for 6 1/2 months, I graduated and immediately began to work at night. At the time, I couldn't quit my full time job just yet, I had t work into the salary I needed. I eventually quit that job and have been self employed for 20 years now. After about 8 years of contracting, I started by own transcription business. I decided to render services as a billet too and went back to school for that. There are a lot of concerns that medical transcriptionist will soon be a thing of the past due to electronic health records but editing is on the rise. Medical coding and billing jobs are n the rise too. I am saying all this because you shouldn't give up. Keep pushing.

Every job I look at (medical coding) wants 2-3 years of experience. How does one get experience if nobody is hiring without it?
