Mentoring, science and baking have been 3 constant insterests in my life. I am trying to figure out how I want to incorporate them in my career. I have been applying for traditional teaching positions. I have also applied for summer camp and tutoring positions. I would love to here how other people explore mentoring in their jobs it doesn't have to be at the forefront!

Good Morning Community, Today I would like to touch on a topic that I have been dealing with lately, it is surrounding yourself around positive people. You never know what others intentions are or what there motivation are either. This is a topic that keeps me wondering after the last few weeks. I try to help people succeed in live and there are always a few that have other intentions on there mind. This is when manipulation comes into play. This is a issue with many people fall victim to there goal of getting over on another person. I have learned a tool that can help you avoid things like this, it is called Cut-offs! Knowing when to use an exit strategy will help you avoid others and there negative effects of manipulation. First the cut-off, I am unable to help you. More examples, sorry I have to be somewhere or I am busy, second using a exit strategy get away from the person or persons. This will help you avoid issues that I had to deal with in the past couple of weeks. Something to think about and as always I welcome your feed back, comments and likes!

Something I wrote on LinkedIn. Some folks on FB might find it useful. Happy new Years!

As we come to end of yet another year, I have heard from many of you on LinkedIn. Thank you!

I am surprised at how many folks I have spoken with that are unhappy in their current roles and looking to move.

As we go into a New Year, I would like to offer some valuable lessons, that I have learned over my career. I am extremely fortunate and blessed to have amazing leaders and mentors through out my career.

FYI, I have been there. Multiple times.

1- You’re more valuable than you know! Get the silly voices out of your head. Focus on your strengths. We ALL have weaknesses, recognize them, but don’t dwell on them. Your strength is what you bring to the table. Use it shamelessly.

2- Have your personal values clearly defined. Make sure the company values are aligned with yours. If you’re willing to sacrifice one of your core values, then the others hold no weight.

3- stop chasing a paycheck. If you’re stuck in a “paycheck 2 paycheck” lifestyle, correct it. It might take a while but get your emergency (I won’t be held hostage) funds together. Discipline.

4- The restaurant business(as are many jobs) a tough business. It takes many of us away from Loved ones. Make time for the people you love. Find time away from work.

I completed a mentoring program recently and I also tutor on the side but I’m not sure how or where I can list this experience on my resume.
