Is it smart to let prospect employers know on your resume or cover letter that you're COVID-19 vaccinated? Many jobs opportunities out there are even including vaccination info and requirements on the application process. The Pro I see is that, by disclosing you're vaccinated -booster too- you may have a leg up on other candidates that choose not not disclose their vaccination status.... on the Con side... it is private medical information after all. Thoughts? #coronavirus #interview #jobsearch #wordsofadvice #application #mythoughts

I worked for Northpointe just shy of 23 years. I loved taking care of the individual's. I worked with the adults as well as the children. I couldn't tell you which one was more rewarding. Both the children and adults were always interesting because it was always something new everyday. No matter what you couldn't help build a relationship with them, because for most you were became their family. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Sure they would have behavioral issues, but that is why they were in the home to begin with. They couldn't help it. #mythoughts

Hi, @Lawrence White , great question and although I don't believe I have all the answers, I think this questions allows me to share lessons from my closely related personal experience. So this isn't too long I want to focus on just a few ideas. The self - evaluation happens by gauging our ability to take action toward a goal as we either do the task or find ways to not move forward. By learning from action we discover all we need to know about ourselves to become greater. This has been my 3 step process in similar situations as the question example.

  1. Separate from the story
  2. Get clarity on your truth.
  3. Focus on powerful action.

The first idea I want to convey is, we all at some point have to let go of our limiting story. When we see the task ahead or next action step needed through the lenses of past failure, we limit the power and mindfulness we take into that action.

The steps toward the goal of getting meaningful work are the same whether I was laid off in 2019 or November 19th of this year. The less we tell the story the less power it has over us. How? We can limit the times a day and week that we tell that same story to others and most importantly limit the times we say it silently to ourselves.

Go on a mental diet from the action of telling that story of your job loss plight. Don't mention it at all randomly, don't imagine future situations where it might come up. If it does come up in reality switch from the lack of work to what was actually there in that time. What productive actions have you been doing since 2019 or since the job separation? One might say for example, "I've been fortunate enough the last few years with have more time with my kids". or "Since 2019 I've been able to follow my passion for wood work".

What ever the truth is of that time spent can be the focus. What was there, not the lack of what wasn't there. Feel gratitude for the time and how YOU chose to spend it or invest it.

  1. There is a book written from a Holocaust survivor in which one of the big take always is, the only way to have hope in the moment of extremely tough times is to have a pull toward a future accomplishment. The less we are clear on what we want in life, a purpose, the more the current moment will lack meaning. Without meaning and a goal/purpose we won't have the motivation, perseverance or desire to take action daily. This doesn't have to be a life purpose just the desire to reach another level. You have to be clear on what type of employment is ideal and desired. This is a mental exercise so no need to bring into this step limiting beliefs, if you can see and feel a mental picture of the goal it can change everything.

Here is how. Take a moment in all seriousness to sit and think about the job you want, not need, want. Once you have "fought" through the levels or reasons this is a dumb exercise and why you can't have that goal. Dwell in that mental place and get really clear on that job. Next focus not on the job but WHO YOU ARE in that mental picture. See yourself performing the job, ask yourself how does it feel to perform this job, to show up and clock in. In your mind tell a friend about the job and what you do. This is called building a relationship with your future self and is the secret to all great accomplishments. The reason this step is called "clarity on truth" is because we all live out the story of how we see ourselves it becomes our truth.

  1. Focus on powerful action. Use resources like #jobcase to take one powerful step at a time. Take the next step forward no matter how small. A STEP ONLY COUNTS IF IT GETS YOU CLOSER TO BEING HIRED. To make this step powerful as you perform it, you have to "be the change you want to see" at that moment. Before you fill out the application, or do the interview or even search for the job do the self truth exercise to bring the energy of the future self to that task. Although you may not be able to tell, there is a huge difference between looking for a job or doing an interview, as the person who has just re-lived the story of being jobless since 2019 and the person who has just visualized being employed in a great role. You got this one powerful step at a time.
