Following up on our discussion last week about job search pet peeve: salary range MIA, there is a growing trend in state pay transparency laws. If you are applying to jobs in #California, #Maryland, #RhodeIsland and #Washington, the employers MUST DISCLOSE pay range to applicants UPON REQUEST. Other states like #Nevada require employers to provide a salary range to applicants who have completed an interview even without a request. You can check more details about the regulation in your states. Or even better, advocate for something similar if your state doesn’t have such law!

Have you requested a salary range before? How was your experience like?

Poker dealers in search of work may have a golden opportunity this summer at the Venetian in Las Vegas, as the card room is hiring seasonal employees for its annual DeepStack Championship Series.

With the increased attendance expected in the poker rooms, there are seasonal jobs available for qualified dealers.

How to get a poker dealer job at Venetian:

The Venetian DeepStack Championship series is scheduled to begin in late May and run until the middle of July, though exact dates haven’t yet been set. On the Sands Corp careers page, interested applicants will find specifics about the job and the minimum qualifications required to get hired.

For starters:

  • You must be at least 21 years old to qualify

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be eligible to work in the United States.

  • Minimum one year of experience working in the casino industry, and it is preferred that you have worked for a major resort, such as the Venetian.

Given that poker dealers for the series will be required to work long hours, at least five days per week, it is essential that those who are hired are in good physical condition.

The job requires being able to “sit, stand and move throughout the assigned area for extended periods of time, and maintain mobility to move throughout” the poker room.

Interested applicants can apply online here on the Sands Corp careers website.

Please be prepared to submit your resume!

PUA, I really did a unforgivable miservice to my family and I by having any confidence in Nevada's ability to handle this pandemic. I applied for PUA over 6 months ago and because of some sort of oversight on both sides my claim still awaits adjudication, now in less than 24 hours it'll be the 26th and the end of PUA and no idea on extensions or anything, I've been left with more questions than I had when I first filed my claim. Now what do I do? If I barely could get through to someone in their phone lines on a regular weekday it'll be impossible to get through now. I'm seriously on the verge of losing everything over this. #benefits #advice #pandemic #unemployment #DETR #Nevada #EmployNV

@steve phelps have you tried contacting your local state representative's office for help in the matter? We've seen on the community, many stories of members contacting their local rep and them being able to help out with their benefits. Good luck!
